Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure the doors, keep it out of the cart, and confirm any preparation the department asks for before the pickup day.
Place the cart no further than three feet off the roadway with the arrows facing the street, on the opposite side of the mailbox from the driveway where possible, at least four feet from poles, hydrants and other obstacles and at least ten feet from vehicles, and never across a ditch the arm cannot reach. Garbage has to be bagged and inside the cart, and the cart has to be out by 5 a.m. or it waits until the next week.
