Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are prohibited in Dothan's recycling programme. The Recyclable Items page directs prohibited material to the City of Dothan Municipal Landfill on Burkett Road for special handling and disposal, while the RECYCLE page instead points to one of the local landfills listed under its landfill tab, and no curbside electronics collection or published electronics fee exists. The city landfill page also says the sanitary landfill is closed, so this route has to be confirmed before a resident loads a vehicle.

City cost & eligibility
No electronics rate is published on the city pages, and the Landfill page states that disposal fees will apply once the city sanitary landfill reopens while Environmental Services customers would then use it at no charge. Confirm the open status, the address and any fee with Environmental Services at (334) 615-3820 before hauling.
When & how
Call Environmental Services at (334) 615-3820 to confirm where electronics are being taken, because the landfill page describes the city landfill as closed while the Environmental Services page and the page footer print open hours. Do not put a television, monitor or computer in the blue recycling cart.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of both recycling streams and out of the green garbage cart, because the recycling rules prohibit them and the cart takes bagged household waste only. Bring the device whole where you can, and remember that the city landfill will not accept hazardous material such as oils, paints and lacquers, pool chemicals or pesticides.

The green cart takes bagged household waste only

Garbage goes in the city-issued green cart, bagged, with the lid closed and the arrows on the lid facing the street. Carts are out before 6:00 AM on the collection day. Items left outside the cart are not collected, overfilled or badly placed carts are not serviced, and each residence is issued one 95-gallon cart, with a second cart available for a fee billed to the utility account. Paperwork is handled by Environmental Services at 281 Complex Drive, Suite 1, by phone at (334) 615-3820.

Three categories are refused at the curb, and more are proposed

Construction and demolition debris, tires and commercial waste are not accepted in Dothan's curbside collection. The ordinance revision package presented on August 4, 2026 would extend that list to building materials except minor owner repairs, contractor-generated debris, landscape debris, dirt, rocks, concrete and bricks, tires and vehicle parts, eviction and move-out debris and estate clean-outs, and hazardous refuse, all of which the owner or producer would have to remove at their own expense. The same package proposes a minimum fee for collecting noncompliant material.

Ask about the city landfill for refused recycling material

A household with electronics, carpet or furniture that the recycling programme refuses and that cannot go in the green cart.

Cost & conditions
The recyclable items page sends prohibited material to the City of Dothan Municipal Landfill for special handling, and the landfill page states that disposal fees will apply once the city sanitary landfill reopens, with city Environmental customers then using it at no charge and commercial or non-city users charged a minimum per ton. Confirm the open status and the current charge before hauling.
Arrange it
Call Environmental Services at (334) 615-3820 to confirm the landfill is taking material and what the drop-off requires, because the Landfill page states the city sanitary landfill is closed while other city pages print open hours.

No hazardous material such as oils, paints and lacquers, household or pool chemicals, or pesticides and herbicides is accepted. The page also notes that any listed private facility is a courtesy listing rather than an endorsement.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Dothan's own routes are the curb and the city landfill. Garbage belongs in the green cart, and the weekly trash pile takes yard material and bulky items such as furniture and appliances, one pile per residence, stacked neatly at the curb with room for the boom truck. Anything the recycling programme refuses, including electronics, carpet and furniture, the city directs to the City of Dothan Municipal Landfill at 1290 Burkett Road for special handling, but the Landfill page states the city sanitary landfill is closed while other city pages print open hours, so call Environmental Services at (334) 615-3820 before loading. Construction and demolition debris has no city route at all: the city refuses it at the curb, its August 2026 ordinance proposal would put building material, contractor debris and move-out or estate clean-out debris on the owner at the owner's expense, and the city's own landfill page lists private permitted construction and demolition landfills at 4541 Kinsey Road in Dothan and 242 New Hope Road in Midland City. Hazardous material such as oils, paints, pool chemicals and pesticides is not accepted anywhere the city lists, and the option it points to for those loads is the same private facility list. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Dothan.

How much does TV removal cost in Dothan?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Dothan?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go in Dothan's recycling cart?

No. Electronics are on the prohibited list for both city recycling pages, alongside carpet, furniture, glass and Styrofoam. The recyclable items page sends those prohibited items to the City of Dothan Municipal Landfill at 1290 Burkett Road for special handling, and Environmental Services can confirm the current drop-off arrangement at (334) 615-3820.Official guidance

What does electronics disposal cost in Dothan?

No electronics rate is published on the city pages, and the Landfill page states that disposal fees will apply once the city sanitary landfill reopens while Environmental Services customers would then use it at no charge. Confirm the open status, the address and any fee with Environmental Services at (334) 615-3820 before hauling. Electronics are prohibited in Dothan's recycling programme. Who do I call about garbage, trash or a missed collection in Dothan?

Environmental Services at 281 Complex Drive, Suite 1 handles residential garbage, trash and recycling questions, missed collections, additional carts and the city landfill, at (334) 615-3820 or publicworks@dothan.org. The office is open Monday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday crews handle missed collections only.Official guidance

How do holidays change collection in Dothan?

The city publishes a holiday sanitation schedule because garbage, trash and recycling days are often affected. In the 2026 calendar, Juneteenth on Friday June 19 and Independence Day on Friday July 3 are regular schedule weeks, while Thanksgiving week from November 23 and Christmas week from December 21 shift Monday and Tuesday pickups to the Monday, Wednesday to the Tuesday and Thursday to the Wednesday, and no recycling is collected in either of those weeks.Official guidance

What can go in the Dothan recycling cart?

Recycling is voluntary and limited to cardboard, mixed paper, plastics 1 through 5, aluminum beverage cans and steel cans, placed loose rather than bagged. Carpet, furniture, electronics, glass of any kind, Styrofoam, yard waste, needles and hazardous material are prohibited, and the city sends those prohibited items to the municipal landfill on Burkett Road for special handling instead.Official guidance
