Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

The City publishes no television or electronics rule and does not name electronics in its curbside description, so the drop-off site and the Solid Waste office have to confirm the item first.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no electronics rate and no list of accepted electronics, so no amount can be quoted. Call the Solid Waste and Recycling office at (256) 760-6495 to confirm whether a television, monitor or computer is taken at the recycling drop-off before you load it.
When & how
The recycling drop-off at 1200 Terrace Street keeps outdoor bins open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Confirm the item with the Solid Waste and Recycling office at (256) 760-6495 before the trip.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage and recycling carts while the route is confirmed, and wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property.

Drop recyclables at the Recycling Plant

Households with recyclables to drop off, including people who live outside the city limits.

Arrange it
The Recycling Plant at 1200 Terrace Street keeps outdoor bins open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the City lists them as available to anyone who wants to recycle.

The City does not publish a current list of what the bins accept, so the drop-off works best for ordinary household recyclables and anything else should be confirmed first.
