A Bagster is two purchases. The bag runs $30 to $40 at the hardware store. The collection is the real cost: Waste Management prices it by ZIP code, commonly somewhere around $99 to $280 or more, and you learn your number when you schedule the pickup. Our number comes first: a couch is $99, fixed before you book.

Price the collection before you buy the bag
The number on the shelf is the bag. The collection is a separate Waste Management service, a truck with a crane arm, and WM prices it by market. The same bag can cost a different amount to empty two ZIP codes apart, which is why nobody in a forum can tell you your total. Enter your ZIP at thebagster.com before you buy. The aisle at Home Depot is the wrong place to learn this.
If what you have is demolition debris, the bag is a fair tool and this is not our job. Drywall, broken tile, plaster, a torn-out vanity: we haul household items, not loose construction debris, so a remodel pile should go in a bag or a can no matter what this page sells. And if the job is more than one bag's worth, quote a 10-yard dumpster while you are at it. It holds more than three times as much, and in plenty of ZIP codes the totals land closer than you would expect.
Where the bag stops
For household stuff, the bag fights you three ways.
You do the loading, all of it, and everything has to fit inside a bag that stands about thigh-high. A couch does not fold, and a dresser goes in only if you break it down first.
The collection truck lifts the bag with a crane arm, so placement has rules: the bag needs to sit within 16 feet of the street with nothing overhead. A bag under a tree limb or a power line can be refused on collection day, with your stuff already in it.
And the price is the part you cannot pin down from the aisle. The collection is set by your ZIP, so the figure a neighbor paid one town over is not your figure.
If the pile in your garage is a couch, a mattress, and a few full trash bags — items, not debris — you are pricing a small dumpster for a junk-removal job.

Couch, $99What happens after you book
Book first, then put things out. The price locks when you book, so the couch can stay in the garage until the morning of the pickup. Haulers head out between 8 and 10 AM, almost half of pickups are done by noon, and about three quarters by 2 PM. You get a text with the ETA before yours arrives, and photos once everything is gone. Book by 2 PM and it goes today where same-day pickup is running, seven days a week, in all 50 states. Nobody comes inside, and you do not need to be home.
