Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Have the fixture safely detached and any plumbing or electrical connections handled by an appropriate professional. We do not remove installed fixtures or perform demolition.

  2. Keep the booked items separate

Have the fixtures empty and ready at ground level. Keep them apart from rubble, loose renovation materials, tools and anything you want to keep.

  3. Show the outdoor handoff

Construction and demolition material

Special rules apply

Construction and demolition debris is refused in the bulky program, and the city's building page sets the rules for a project instead: qualifying work has to divert at least 65 percent of non-hazardous debris through Green Halo reporting, only Republic Services may haul it because the city has an exclusive franchise for temporary waste collection, and a self-haul is allowed only to the Palomar Transfer Station on El Camino Real.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no container or tonnage rate for a project load. The franchise hauler quotes the dumpster or roll-off, and the self-haul option is a transfer station gate fee, so confirm the price with Republic Services at 760-332-6464 or at the Palomar scale.
When & how
Order the container through CarlsbadRecycling@RepublicServices.com or 760-332-6464, or self-haul to the Palomar Transfer Station at 5960 El Camino Real, which the construction page prints as open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep three separate containers on site for trash, recycling and construction debris, and if you self-haul bring the current vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a photo of the hauling vehicle with a visible license plate. Keep the weight tickets and upload them to the Green Halo project before final inspection.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A refused item will not ride the bulky truck

The city publishes a long refused list for bulky collection: auto parts, bathtubs with showers attached, boats, camper shells, construction and demolition debris, fencing, a whole garage door, household hazardous waste, pianos, plywood and wallboard, pools, pool tables, roofing, satellite dishes, shopping carts, shower modules, sinks, sliding glass doors, spas, tires, tree stumps, universal waste such as batteries and fluorescent bulbs, and windows. Each of those needs its own route rather than a spot in the pile.

A project keeps three containers and one authorized hauler

Qualifying projects keep three separate containers on site for trash, recycling and construction and demolition debris, and only Republic Services may haul temporary waste in Carlsbad because of the city's exclusive franchise agreement. A resident who self-hauls may take the load only to the Palomar Transfer Station at 5960 El Camino Real, with the current vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a photo of the hauling vehicle showing its license plate, and qualifying work reports diversion through Green Halo.

Drop electronics and household batteries at the buyback center

A household that would rather drive devices, batteries, scrap metal or cardboard to a drop-off than wait for a collection date.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the buyback center's hours and accepted materials but no fee for electronics, household batteries, scrap metal or cardboard, so confirm the current terms at the site before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Drive to the Recycling Buyback Center at 5960 El Camino Real, published as Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sundays.

Compressed gas cylinders, electrical power distribution equipment, metal switch gear, oil-filled transformers and smoke detectors are refused, and the construction page prints a different, wider set of hours for the same address, so confirm before a Sunday trip.

With a new purchase

Order the project container from the franchise hauler

A household or contractor with a construction or demolition load that the bulky program refuses.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no container or tonnage rate for a project load, and Republic Services is the only authorized hauler, so the price comes from the company at 760-332-6464.
Arrange it
Order a dumpster or roll-off through CarlsbadRecycling@RepublicServices.com or 760-332-6464, and set up the three on-site containers the city requires.

Another hauling company cannot be used for temporary waste collection in Carlsbad, and the load still has to be reported through Green Halo when the project qualifies.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Carlsbad residents have two drop-off addresses. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 1145 East Taylor St. in Vista takes paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, aerosols, antifreeze, photo chemicals, poisons and lithium batteries free on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with published closures on holiday weekends and a paid door-to-door alternative booked at 800-714-1195. The Recycling Buyback Center at 5960 El Camino Real takes household electronics, household batteries, scrap metal and cardboard during its posted weekday and Saturday hours, and it is also the only place a resident may self-haul construction and demolition material, which requires the current vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a photo of the hauling vehicle with its license plate visible. Construction containers are different again: the city has an exclusive franchise for temporary waste collection, so only Republic Services can haul that material, ordered through CarlsbadRecycling@RepublicServices.com or 760-332-6464, and qualifying projects report their diversion through Green Halo. Household bulky items stay on the curbside route, where three pickups a year cover up to five items each. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Carlsbad.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Carlsbad?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Carlsbad?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Who can haul construction debris in Carlsbad?

Only Republic Services can haul it for a project, because the city has an exclusive franchise agreement for temporary waste collection, and the container is ordered through CarlsbadRecycling@RepublicServices.com or 760-332-6464. A resident may self-haul instead, but only to the Palomar Transfer Station at 5960 El Camino Real, and qualifying projects must also track diversion through Green Halo.Official guidance
