Colton contracts exclusively with CR&R for trash, green waste and recycling, and every single family household runs three automated carts: black for refuse, green for organics and blue for recyclables. Large items take a separate route. A household can schedule eight bulky item pickups a contract year of up to four items each, capped at 32 items a year, and the hauler has to collect within seven days of the request. Refrigerators and electronic waste are collected at the curb as charged pickups, mattresses and box springs drop free at the transfer station on East Steel Road, and construction material, tires and household hazardous waste stay out of the carts and the bulky pile entirely.

Keep electronics out of all three carts and off a bulky pile, and wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property. Take batteries out of the device and route them to a hazardous waste site rather than the green or blue cart.
Construction and demolition material is not eligible for the weekly carts, the bulky item pickup or a community dump day, so a project load moves through a container arranged with the hauler.
