Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are accepted at the transfer station, where the county defines them as anything with a cord, from televisions and computer monitors to stereos and alarm clocks. Cathode ray tube televisions and monitors are free, and residential devices without a screen are free as well.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic waste at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station for residential loads, with cathode ray tube televisions and monitors and residential devices without a screen both listed at no charge, and residential batteries routed to a Kern County Special Waste Facility instead.
When & how
Drop the load during the site's open days, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household batteries and other chemically hazardous items follow a different route altogether, through a Special Waste Facility or a one-day collection event, and the Delano event is listed at the same transfer station on September 25, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Get it ready
Wipe the drive or reset the device and keep the screen whole, because the county accepts televisions and monitors as cathode ray tube electronic waste. Never put electronics in a household trash cart when a free drop-off is available, and keep batteries and other hazardous items out of the electronic load.

Cover and secure every load before the gate

Kern County charges extra for an untarped or unsecured load, so tarp or tie down anything headed to the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station. At the site, stop at the gatehouse for the load check, take recyclables to the diversion area, take the rest to the transfer face, follow the speed limit signs and follow the directional arrows.

The Delano transfer station is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The McFarland-Delano Transfer Station opens Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so nothing can be dropped on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Every county disposal site closes for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Only Kern County waste is accepted, and some streams are refused

Waste generated outside Kern County is refused at every county disposal site, and the transfer station will not take firearms or explosives, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids of any kind or non-friable asbestos. Anything out of the ordinary should be cleared with Kern County Public Works before it is loaded into a vehicle.

Household chemicals travel with limits and stay in the vehicle

A resident may carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous material per vehicle per trip, no single container may hold more than five gallons, materials must not be mixed and containers must be closed, sturdy and not leaking with the original label or a clear description of the contents. At the facility an attendant hands you a short form for your name, address and signature and removes the material from your trunk or back seat while you fill it in, and business waste is not accepted at the events.

How much does TV removal cost in Delano?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
