When & how
Order a container from Valley Vista Services for the project. The 12 yard roll-off takes lumber, metal, plastic and drywall with the rate including up to three tons, the 10 yard lowboy takes inert material such as concrete, dirt, sand, brick, block, tile, stucco and plaster, and the 26 yard container is set up for roofing work.
Get it ready
Keep the load inside the container's stated limits: no dirt, rock, concrete, roofing, brick or ceramic tile in the 12 yard container, no wire mesh in stucco for the 10 yard, and no household hazardous waste or auto parts in any container. A three yard container carries a maximum of 800 pounds, and the 10 and 26 yard sizes top out around 20,000 pounds.
Construction and demolition debris, concrete, rebar, masonry, roofing materials, bricks, broken asphalt, auto parts, rocks, sod, dirt, medical equipment, industrial items, hazardous waste and anything that cannot be handled by two people are all outside the bulky item service. Lumber and green waste are allowed only when they are bundled, under 50 pounds and less than four feet long.
Three carts, one extra of two of them, and oil at the curb
Standard service requires one trash, one recycling and one organics cart, and a household may request one additional recycling cart and one additional organics cart at no charge. Used motor oil and oil filters go out at the curb on the regular collection day, with the oil in a clean sealed container and the filters in sealed zip-lock bags. Households with a recognised disability can apply for free valet or backyard service, where the hauler moves the carts out and returns them.

Each container has its own exclusions and weight caps, household hazardous waste and auto parts are refused in every container, and an overweight container may not be serviced at all.
