When & how
Most collection events run on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with no appointment needed, and the permanent centers include the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center in Palmdale on the first and third Saturdays and the EDCO center in Signal Hill on select Saturdays. A resident may also request a bulky pickup from the hauler.
Get it ready
Pack the items in cardboard boxes, keep them in the trunk away from passengers, expect to leave the boxes behind, and stay in the car while staff unload. Keep solar panels out of the load, because the county refuses them and points residents to the manufacturer or a recycler.
