Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction and demolition material is refused in the carts and on the cleanup pile, so a project load moves through an authorized roll-off container instead.

City cost & eligibility
Neither the weekly carts nor the curbside cleanup takes construction and demolition material, and Mid Valley Disposal offers roll-off bins in a range of sizes for those loads. Under Madera County Code only the county's exclusive franchise haulers may place roll-off or drop box containers for construction and demolition debris or bulky waste, so the container is ordered from the authorized hauler.
When & how
Order the roll-off container before the project generates debris, and keep the material out of the carts and off the cleanup pile for the whole project.
Get it ready
Separate the concrete, dirt, wood, drywall, asphalt shingles and asphalt pavement the project can divert, and keep the diversion records a covered project has to produce. California law requires nonhazardous construction and demolition waste to be recycled or salvaged, and Madera Municipal Code section 5-3.30 requires covered projects to divert at least 65 percent.

Refused items stay at your curb

Tires, batteries and items containing batteries, paint and liquids, propane tanks, needles, dirt and rock, 50-gallon drums, items over four feet long and items over 150 pounds are all refused in the cleanup. Anything refused is left at the curb and has to be removed by the resident within 24 hours after the scheduled cleanup date, so keep those out of the pile in the first place.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Roll-off bin for a construction load

A household or contractor with construction, renovation or demolition debris that the carts and the cleanup refuse.

Cost & conditions
Roll-off bins are quoted by size and service, and no published rate for a construction load appears on the pages read here, so confirm the bin size, the delivery and the disposal charge with the authorized hauler at 559-237-9425.
Arrange it
Order the roll-off from one of the county's exclusive franchise haulers before the project starts, and keep construction material out of the carts and off the cleanup pile.

Under Madera County Code only the exclusive franchise haulers may place roll-off or drop box containers for construction and demolition debris or bulky waste, and covered projects still have to meet the 65 percent diversion requirement with documentation.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Madera has no city landfill, so a self hauled load goes to the Fairmead Landfill, also called the Mammoth Recycling Facility and Transfer Station, at 21739 Road 19 in Chowchilla. It is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and it is closed Sundays and major holidays. The site is owned by Madera County and operated under contract with Red Rock Environmental Group, and it is open to the public for self haulers. Televisions and computer monitors are accepted free of charge, and electronic waste generally can be dropped there during open hours. The same site runs the county household hazardous waste window on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Madera County residents, with businesses served by appointment. Paint has its own retail route, because vendors take up to five gallons of latex and oil-based paint, stains and varnish, and the city lists Sherwin-Williams at 1809 Howard Rd. The city's recycling guide also points at free waste tire recycling events, a line for tires left in the public right of way, and free used oil and filter bags available at 1030 S. Gateway Drive while supplies last. A per load gate rate is not published on the city or county pages read here, so confirm the charge at 559-665-1310 before loading. Self hauled household loads from the public, recyclables, and electronic waste. Televisions and computer monitors are accepted free of charge. The site also hosts the county household hazardous waste facility, which takes items such as old paint, batteries, fluorescent lights, thermometers and thermostats, waste oil and gasoline, and pesticides.

The household hazardous waste facility is open to Madera County residents only and runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with businesses served by appointment. The landfill is closed Sundays and major holidays and closes on July 4, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Under county code only the exclusive franchise haulers may place roll-off or drop box containers for construction and demolition debris or bulky waste, so a project container is ordered rather than self placed. Confirm the load and the gate rate at 559-665-1310 before hauling.

Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed Sunday and major holidays. Phone 559-665-1310.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Madera.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Madera?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Madera?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

How do I clear construction debris in Madera?

Not through the carts, because Mid Valley Disposal lists construction and demolition waste among the items that must not go in a container, and not through the curbside cleanup, which excludes construction and demolition material by name. The load moves through a roll-off bin ordered from the authorized franchise hauler.Official guidance

Does a project in Madera have to divert debris?

Certain projects do. The City of Madera Municipal Code section 5-3.30 on construction and demolition debris recycling requires certain projects to recycle or reuse at least 65 percent of the debris they generate, and it was adopted to keep those materials out of the landfill as required by AB 939 and the California Green Building Code.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Madera?

The City of Madera contracts residential and commercial trash, recycling and green waste service to Mid Valley Disposal, whose customer line is 559-237-9425 and whose toll free number is 1-800-706-5779. Residential service changes are handled by the City at 559-661-5406, option 4, and billing questions go to City Utility Billing at 559-661-5459.Official guidance

How is the Madera trash rate set?

The City Council adopts the solid waste and street sweeping rates. Resolution 22-103 set a five year schedule effective August 1, 2022, and its attachment lists the three standard residential containers at $49.31 a month as a maximum in the fiscal year 2026/27 column, noting that the later columns are maximum rates that may be adjusted by future Council action. City Utility Billing at 559-661-5459 confirms the amount billed on the account.Official guidance

Do apartments and businesses qualify for the curbside cleanup?

No. The citywide curbside cleanup is limited to single-family homes inside the Madera city limits and it excludes unincorporated areas of Madera County, multi-family dwellings and commercial businesses. Mid Valley Disposal still handles residential and commercial collection, so an apartment resident can ask the property manager or order a bulky item pickup from the hauler.Official guidance

Where do tires go in Madera?

Tires are refused in the curbside cleanup and the city's guide puts them in the not allowed in any cart group. The guide lists free waste tire recycling events on selected dates and a tire cleanup line for tires left in the public right of way, and Mid Valley Disposal lists tires among the items it collects through a bulky item pickup, which is quoted on contact.Official guidance

Where does household hazardous waste go in Madera?

The Fairmead Landfill site hosts the county household hazardous waste facility, open to Madera County residents on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with businesses served by appointment. Accepted material includes old paint, televisions and computer monitors, batteries, fluorescent lights, thermometers and thermostats, waste oil and gasoline, and pesticides. Paint can also go to a participating vendor, and the city lists Sherwin-Williams at 1809 Howard Rd.Official guidance

How do I recycle used motor oil?

The city's recycling guide says used oil and filter bags can be picked up at the Solid Waste Division at 1030 S. Gateway Drive in Madera while supplies last, and the division line is 559-661-5406. The city also runs free waste tire recycling events on selected dates, and household batteries belong with household hazardous waste rather than in any cart.Official guidance
