Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste comes off the curb free through the Recycle More program, which takes cathode ray tube and flat screen televisions, computer monitors, computers and accessories, consumer electronics and electronic toys. Scrap metal and electronics also drop free at the Napa Recycling and Composting Facility, and the household hazardous waste facility refuses them.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free through the Recycle More curbside pickup for residents and businesses when it is scheduled in advance, free at the Napa Recycling and Composting Facility, and listed as no charge on the City of Napa rate table.
When & how
Book the Recycle More pickup in advance with Napa Recycling at 707-255-5200, or drop the devices at the Napa Recycling and Composting Facility at 820 Levitin Way in American Canyon, open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers and other devices out of all three carts and out of a debris box, because they count as hazardous waste in a box, and erase personal data before handover.

Know which of the two curbside routes takes the item

Napa runs two curbside routes for large items. Metal goes free through Recycle More, which takes large appliances, large metal items over 36 inches, electronic waste, bagged clothing and shoes, and cooking oil, and a refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer has to have its door removed or its latch disabled before pickup. Everything else large and non-metal goes on the bulky item service, which covers up to four items at a rate per service and takes furniture, mattresses and box springs, carpet and padding rolled no longer than six feet and no wider than 18 inches, pallets, plastic furniture, toilets, tires and untreated wood.

Pack the Recycle More load the way the program asks

A Recycle More pickup has to be scheduled in advance and the material has to arrive prepared. Batteries are resident only and cannot be picked up on their own, so a battery pickup has to be combined with another Recycle More item, each positive terminal is taped, and the batteries go out in a sealed clear plastic bag. Fluorescent bulbs and tubes are resident only, have to be in a box with no loose bulbs, and nothing over four feet goes on the truck. Clothing and textiles have to be clean and dry in a tied bag.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Napa means the Devlin Road Recycling and Transfer Facility at 889 Devlin Road in American Canyon, open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A mattress only load of two pieces is free on the current price sheet, and antifreeze, car batteries, household batteries, latex paint and used motor oil and filters are free too. Everything else has a line: a minimum charge for the first 1000 pounds of waste or construction material and a per ton rate above that, a per appliance charge, a separate charge to remove refrigerant from a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner, separate rates for clean concrete, asphalt and dirt, and tire prices that climb with the rim size. Loads have to be covered and secured, payment is by card or cash with identification for a card, and the facility closes on the major holidays and closes early before Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve. Separated clean wood, drywall, metal, yard waste and electronics go instead to the Napa Recycling and Composting Facility at 820 Levitin Way, which is also open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household chemicals, paint, oil, batteries, bulbs and sharps go to the Napa-Vallejo Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 889A Devlin Road on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., free for households within a 15 gallon or 125 pound per trip limit. A project can also order a debris box, with boxes for cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, metal and single stream recycling at no charge and trash boxes priced by size. Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?
