When & how
Arrange the project route with a private container company or through the hauler's construction and demolition service, because neither the carts nor the bulky pickup accept the material.
Get it ready
Keep dirt, concrete, tile, drywall, rock, loose lumber and demolition material out of the carts and off the bulky request so the rest of the collection is not interrupted. Carpet can be taken to Carpet Manufacturers Warehouse at 6111 Randolph St in Commerce or Serv-Wel Disposal & Recycling at 901 S Maple Ave in Montebello, which the city lists with phone numbers.
Trash, organics and recycling carts are set out with the wheels against the curb by 6:00 am on the regular collection day, side by side about one foot apart and at least three feet from parked vehicles or other objects, with a clear path so the truck can reach them. Bulky items, construction debris, electronic waste and automotive parts are not cart material, and hazardous material is prohibited in the containers by state law.
Athens refuses automobile parts, construction and demolition debris including dirt, concrete, tile, drywall and rock, hazardous waste such as antifreeze, automotive fluids, cleaning products, compressed gas cylinders full or empty, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, paint, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals and solvents, and loose or scattered building material and lumber. Each of those has its own route in Norwalk rather than a place in the pickup pile.
