Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition material

Special rules apply

The SMaRT Station accepts construction and demolition debris as a self-haul material, permitted projects must divert 65 percent of non-hazardous material, and containers come from the city or its franchise hauler.

City cost & eligibility
The SMaRT Station sets rates by material type per cubic yard or per large item and the rate table was not read here, and a permitted project that misses the 65 percent diversion rate pays a penalty calculated from square footage and the shortfall. Confirm the container, the gate rate and the diversion plan before the work starts.
When & how
Order a container from the city Utilities Division on 408-730-7400, or from Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling when the site has no active city water or sewer account, and submit the Green Halo waste management plan before permit approval.
Get it ready
Source-separate material by type where practical, since the city encourages separate bins for concrete, wood and similar streams, and keep treated wood, liquids and hazardous waste out of the load. Track weight tickets for the diversion report, and note that self-hauling and third-party hauling carry their own Municipal Code conditions.

Extra garbage uses a tag, and extra dumping weekends are free

A single-family resident with garbage that will not fit the cart buys a six dollar tag and puts one extra bag out per tag on the collection day. The bag must be 35 gallons or smaller and under 30 pounds, the tag goes on the front facing the street, and garbage in cardboard boxes is not collected. Separately, all Sunnyvale residents may take garbage, concrete, demolition material, tires and other non-hazardous loads to the SMaRT Station free during the spring and fall Extra Dumping Weekends.

Order a container for a project load

A household or contractor with construction and demolition material, including a permitted project that has to track diversion.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Sunnyvale has one curbside route and one gate. Furniture, electronics and other bulky items come off the curb on an on-call collection that single-family and multi-family residents can schedule twice a year at no additional charge through the How to Get Rid of Anything tool, and extra bagged garbage goes out with a six dollar tag on a bag no larger than 35 gallons and under 30 pounds. Everything self-hauled goes to the SMaRT Station at 301 Carl Road, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week and closed on the three collection holidays, where household discards, appliances, furniture, green waste, construction and demolition debris, concrete, dirt, clean wood, asphalt, brick, pavers and tires are accepted with proof of residency and a covered load. Hazardous waste, liquids and treated wood are refused there and instead go to Santa Clara County's weekly hazardous waste drop-off events on Fridays and Saturdays, free to residents by appointment on 408-299-7300. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Sunnyvale.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Sunnyvale?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Sunnyvale?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

What diversion does a Sunnyvale project have to hit?

Commercial demolition projects and residential projects removing 50 percent or more of an exterior wall must divert 65 percent of non-hazardous material from landfill. Since August 17, 2026 permit applicants create a Waste Management Plan through a unique link and submit it in Green Halo before permit approval, and a project that misses the rate pays a penalty based on square footage and the shortfall.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulky items in Sunnyvale?

The city provides garbage and recycling to every residence and business in Sunnyvale at least once a week, franchises Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling, and operates the SMaRT Station on Carl Road. Bulky items are requested through the How to Get Rid of Anything tool by selecting Bulky Item Collection rather than handled by a hauler phone booking.Official guidance

What are the rules for a trip to the SMaRT Station?

Bring a driver license showing Sunnyvale residency or a business license showing the operating location, cover and secure the load because an uncovered load draws a fifteen dollar fee, and expect rates set by material type per cubic yard or per large item. Hazardous waste, liquids and treated wood are not accepted, and recycling, paint and compost services are limited to the cities listed on the eligibility table.Official guidance
