When & how
Book the bulk pickup for the first or third Thursday with 24 hours notice, or set appliances out during the Spring Cleanup, and arrange the refrigerant work with a licensed business before the unit goes out.
Get it ready

The Streets Division schedules bulk pickup on the first and third Thursdays of the month only, weather permitting, and a household has to give 24 hours notice by the Wednesday morning before. The price is a set amount per ten cubic yard truckload plus a charge for each appliance, scheduled and paid through the city's online payment page or by calling 970-375-4833. The service covers single family homes inside city limits and commercial properties are excluded, and it pauses during the annual spring and fall cleanups. Items are not to go out until the night before the pickup, because items left out without a scheduled pickup may draw a written ticket from code enforcement.
The spring cleanup widens the list, the autumn one narrows it
Spring Cleanup runs from March 30 to April 30 in 2026 with a map for each neighbourhood's pickup week, and it takes furniture and mattresses, large appliances without refrigerators or air conditioning units, scrap metal, drywall, carpeting, tiles and do-it-yourself remodelling debris, open and dried paint cans, fencing and lumber under 8 feet long and 8 inches in diameter, trimmed branches, and bagged or boxed loose brush and leaves. Fall Cleanup takes yard material only, with branches under the same size limits left unbagged and leaves, pine needles and brush in bags, so paper bags are composted and plastic bags go to the landfill. Only residents who pay the cleanup fee directly on their utility bill may take part, and material must be sorted into separate piles for tree limbs and clean lumber, bagged leaves, scrap metal, landfill waste and free items, with a maximum of two loads per residence. Rocks, concrete, dirt, bricks, hazardous waste, industrial material and wet paint are refused in both seasons.
