Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and renovation debris

Special rules apply

Demolition debris is accepted at the Mesa County Landfill as approved special waste priced per ton. The load needs approval from the landfill's Regulatory Compliance Manager before it arrives.

City cost & eligibility
From $32 per ton of demolition debris at the Mesa County Landfill, which the fee schedule lists as approved special waste, with the ten dollar minimum covering up to 380 pounds and special handling fees of 50 dollars each, 100 dollars for 10 to 20 cubic yards and 200 dollars for larger loads. Loads approved in advance by the landfill's Regulatory Compliance Manager. The load has to be covered and secured, and contaminated soil, asbestos and other special streams carry their own published rates.
When & how
Call the landfill at 970-241-6846 or email web-solidwastemanagement@mesacounty.us for approval before hauling, then deliver during landfill hours, Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. or Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Get it ready
Get the approval first, cover and secure the entire load before arriving, and keep asbestos, contaminated soil and liquid waste on their own approved routes rather than mixed into a general debris load.

Cover and secure the load before it leaves the driveway

The Mesa County Landfill requires every incoming load to be covered and secured, and the rule is enforced at the gate: an uncovered load is charged double, with no exceptions, and loads cannot be tarped on or near the county campus. A tarp or cargo net, a blanket, carpet or even a mattress counts as cover if it covers the entire load and is securely tied to the vehicle, while a shredded tarp or one loosely tucked into the vehicle does not count.

The city takes the small stuff, the county takes the rest

The City of Grand Junction's Solid Waste Division runs weekly automated refuse collection for residential addresses of fewer than eight units, and as its new programme expands it also adds automated recycling and yard waste compost collection to that service. It publishes no bulky item pickup. Anything larger, from furniture to a renovation load, goes to the county landfill at 3071 US-50, while electronics and appliances with refrigerants go to the county hazardous waste collection facility at the same address.

County hours, city carts and the holiday delay

The landfill is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and the hazardous waste collection facility and the composting facility are open Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The county contact is 970-241-6846. On the city side, no trash or recycling is collected on a major holiday and a holiday falling on a weekday delays collection by one day for the rest of that week, and residents with a disability or over the age of 65 can ask for the operator to pull the container out and return it each week.

Take appliances and electronics to the county hazardous waste facility

A household with a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner, a non-hazardous appliance, a television, computer or monitor, or household hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, light bulbs, automotive fluids or pool chemicals.

Cost & conditions
The county publishes its fees by item and by weight, so the charge depends on what is brought: 80 cents per pound for electronic waste with a one pound minimum, 65 dollars for a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner, 10 dollars for a non-hazardous appliance, and free residential limits for paint, batteries, automotive fluids, garden products, cleaning products and the rest of the hazardous list. Confirm the current rate with the facility at 970-256-9543.
Arrange it
Take the material to 3071 US-50 on a Wednesday through Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., and expect the charge to be worked out at the counter.

Explosives other than ammunition and Class C fireworks, radioactive material, bio-hazardous material other than sharps and controlled substances are refused. Residential quantities of paint, batteries, corrosives, flammables, motor oil and pesticides are free within the published limits and charged above them, and out-of-county waste pays an extra fee.

Get approval for a demolition debris load

A household or contractor with demolition, renovation or contaminated material that the landfill treats as approved special waste.

Cost & conditions
From $32 per ton of demolition debris at the Mesa County Landfill, with contaminated soil and non-friable asbestos at 60 dollars per ton, friable asbestos at 80 dollars per cubic yard and special handling fees of 50 dollars each, 100 dollars for 10 to 20 cubic yards and 200 dollars for larger loads. Loads approved in advance by the landfill's Regulatory Compliance Manager and delivered covered and secured from within Mesa County.
Arrange it
Call 970-241-6846 or email web-solidwastemanagement@mesacounty.us for approval, then deliver during landfill hours.

No approval means no disposal of the special load, hazardous and liquid waste are refused outright, and the load is charged double if it arrives uncovered.

Open the Mesa County Landfill page

With a new purchase

Order a private container for a large project

A household or contractor with more demolition material than one covered trailer load, or with material that needs staging on site.

Cost & conditions
A container company quotes its own price for the box, the haul and the disposal, and the landfill rate for the material still applies when the load is tipped, so confirm both figures before ordering.
Arrange it
Contact a licensed container or hauling company to place the box, have the material approved through the landfill if it is special waste, and have the container collected when the work is finished.

The landfill still requires approval for special waste and still charges double for an uncovered load, and hazardous material such as paint, solvents and asbestos does not belong in a general debris container.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-haul in Grand Junction means the Mesa County campus at 3071 US-50, where the landfill and the hazardous waste collection facility sit at the same address. The landfill is the destination for household loads, furniture, mattresses and approved demolition debris, open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and it charges a ten dollar minimum covering up to 380 pounds with loose trash at 32 dollars per ton, mattresses and box springs at 20 dollars each and tires priced per item. Two rules catch people at the gate: the load has to be covered and secured before arrival or it is charged double, and hazardous, liquid, universal and out-of-county waste is refused. The hazardous waste collection facility next door is where the refused items go, open Wednesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., charging 80 cents per pound for electronic waste, 65 dollars for a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner and 10 dollars for a non-hazardous appliance while accepting paint, batteries, automotive fluids, light bulbs, garden products, cleaning products and the rest of the household hazardous list free within published residential limits. The county contact for both is 970-241-6846, and the hazardous waste facility is at 970-256-9543. The city itself runs no drop-off for these materials: it collects refuse, recycling and, where the new programme has expanded, yard waste compost from the curb at the published monthly container rates. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Grand Junction.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Grand Junction?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Grand Junction?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can I take renovation debris to the Mesa County Landfill?

Yes, as approved special waste. Demolition debris is listed at 32 dollars per ton, but the load has to be approved in advance by the landfill's Regulatory Compliance Manager at 970-241-6846, and covered and secured before it arrives. Contaminated soil and asbestos carry their own rates, and special handling fees apply to large loads.Official guidance
