Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste cannot go in the curbside containers, and Douglas County runs a free electronics recycling program at its GreenWorks site by appointment for county residents.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Douglas County states that electronics recycling is free for county residents at the GreenWorks site, by reservation with proof of residency at drop-off. The city's separate household pickup service through Waste Management at wmatyourdoor.com is described by the city as a low cost service, so its price is confirmed separately at 1-800-449-7587.
When & how
Reserve a drop-off appointment through the county booking link, or call the program line at 303-660-7480 for help with a reservation. The electronics program runs Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Sunday closed, the last appointment is at 4:30 p.m., reservations open in advance and fill quickly, and the site is closed on county holidays.
Get it ready
Keep electronics and batteries out of the curbside containers, because the city's recycling guide refuses them and requires special disposal. Remove stands and brackets from a television, and wipe personal data from a computer, drive or phone before it leaves the property.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Lone Tree has no city landfill or transfer station, so a resident who hauls material drives to Sedalia Landfill at 5970 North Hwy 85 in Sedalia, about twenty minutes south of town. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., charges a base rate per ton with separate charges for mattresses, tires off the rim, Freon recovery, shingles, pull offs, dig outs and special burial, takes cash and credit cards but no checks, and turns away paint, liquids, food waste, medical waste, hazardous material, batteries and electronic waste. The Douglas County GreenWorks site sits right next to it at 5675 Delva Way and is the free route for household hazardous waste and for electronics, both by appointment with proof of county residency and both running Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. last appointment. Mattresses and box springs can also go to Spring Back Colorado, the mattress recycler the landfill sheet lists, and the county publishes appliance and metal options that include a free metal pickup service certified to evacuate refrigerants and the Habitat ReStore, which takes appliance drop-offs and offers free pickup with a donation encouraged. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lone Tree.

How much does TV removal cost in Lone Tree?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Lone Tree?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Lone Tree?

To the Douglas County electronics recycling program at the GreenWorks site, 5675 Delva Way in Sedalia, which is free to county residents by appointment with proof of residency. Accepted items include computers, tablets, monitors, televisions without stands or brackets, printers, fax machines, keyboards and mice, DVD players, VCRs, servers, cell phones, networking equipment, game consoles, stereo equipment and external drives.Official guidance

Can electronics be picked up from home?

Yes. The city partners with Douglas County and Waste Management on a year round household hazardous waste service that lists consumer electronics among the accepted material, and the city describes the service as low cost. Sign up at wmatyourdoor.com/residential or call 1-800-449-7587.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Lone Tree?

The City of Lone Tree contracts Waste Connections to collect curbside trash and recycling for single-family homes, and the city pays for the service. Waste Connections customer service is 303-288-2100, the city trash line is 720-509-1212, and the program email is trash@cityoflonetree.com.Official guidance

What is included in the Lone Tree service?

Weekly trash, every other week recycling, up to three containers with no delivery or pickup fee, a free special needs collection for households that cannot move the containers, and two yard clean up windows a year for branches and bagged yard waste. Large item collection is the exception, because it is arranged with the hauler and paid for by the resident.Official guidance

Why does Lone Tree pay for trash service?

The city describes itself as one of only two Colorado cities that provide free residential trash and recycling, and it funds the program through its contract with Waste Connections rather than billing households a monthly collection charge. Extra containers beyond the third are billed by the hauler at a monthly rate.Official guidance

Do HOA or metro district rules apply?

The resident guide notes that a homeowners association may offer additional services or maintain design review committees with rules that apply to a neighborhood, so a household should check with its HOA before changing container placement or arranging a large item collection.Official guidance

Where do plastic bags go?

Not in the recycling container. The city and the hauler direct plastic bags and film to participating grocery or retail stores with plastic film recycling bins near the entrance, and the curbside recycling list refuses plastic bags along with styrofoam and tanglers.Official guidance

What if I have material the city will not take at all?

The county routes handle most of it. Hazardous waste and electronics go to the GreenWorks site in Sedalia by appointment, construction debris, furniture, appliances, tires and mattresses go to Sedalia Landfill next door, and the county also publishes appliance and metal services, including a free metal pickup certified for refrigerants.Official guidance
