Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are listed among the materials never accepted curbside in Casselberry, so a television or computer does not go out with the garbage or the bulky load. The county takes them free at the household hazardous waste tunnel at the Central Transfer Station in Longwood, which accepts computers, monitors, televisions, printers, cell phones, audio-visual equipment and other household electronics from residents of the county's incorporated cities.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free at the Seminole County household hazardous waste tunnel for all Seminole County residents, including residents of incorporated cities such as Casselberry; businesses are not permitted to use the program. No per-item electronics charge is published.
When & how
Take electronics to the Central Transfer Station at 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood, where the hazardous waste tunnel is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the transfer station itself is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Remove personal data from every device before it leaves the house, because the county tells residents to do that rather than relying on deletion. Keep televisions, monitors and computers off the curb entirely, since the city lists electronics among the items it does not accept curbside.

Everything the curb refuses has a county receiving site

Electronics, fuel, used motor oil, paints, solvents, antifreeze, chemicals, fluorescent tubes, propane tanks, tires, glue and household or automobile cleaners never go in the Casselberry garbage can. The county household hazardous waste tunnel inside the Central Transfer Station at 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood takes chemicals, electronics, automotive fluids, batteries and propane free from residents of incorporated cities, in a sealed container for sharps, and the Seminole County Landfill in Geneva takes automotive fluids and tires only, with four tires per person allowed at the transfer station and ten at the landfill.

City of Casselberry Public Works, with Seminole County Solid Waste Management Division

Drop chemicals, electronics and sharps at the county hazardous waste tunnel

A Seminole County household with paint, chemicals, pool products, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, propane, fluorescent tubes, a television or computer, or sealed sharps.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to all Seminole County residents, including residents of incorporated cities such as Casselberry. Businesses are not permitted to drop hazardous material through the program, and no per-item charge is published for electronics or chemicals.
Arrange it
Drive to the Central Transfer Station at 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood, where the hazardous waste tunnel is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and keep sharps in a properly contained, sealed container. Used motor oil is limited to twenty gallons and gasoline to five gallons per drop-off.

The landfill in Geneva takes automotive fluids and tires only, so the tunnel at the transfer station is the site for chemicals and electronics. Good products left at the tunnel are reused, and residents who take from the reuse shop may take up to fifteen items a day with no more than five of any one item, after signing the recipient agreement.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Casselberry's curbside system does most of the work. Garbage is collected twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday route, recycling once a week, and yard waste on Wednesdays, with cans and bins out before 6 a.m., no more than three feet from the road and under fifty pounds. Furniture, mattresses and box springs are put out on the second garbage day of the week inside a three to four large item limit and with no call needed, while appliances have to be booked with Public Works for a Tuesday or Thursday pickup. Twice a year the city runs a curbside Community Clean-up that takes steel, taped glass, lumber, wallboard, roofing material, pipe, large tree stumps and up to six yards of yard waste, with a fifty pound container limit, and that event refuses appliances, ordinary household garbage, paint, tires and household hazardous waste. For everything refused at the curb, the self-haul answer is Seminole County: the household hazardous waste tunnel at the Central Transfer Station, 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood, open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., takes chemicals, paints, solvents, pesticides, pool products, mercury devices, fluorescent tubes, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, propane, sealed sharps and household electronics free from residents of incorporated cities, with a reuse shop offering good products back at no charge. Tires are taken there within a four tire per person limit or at the county landfill in Geneva within a ten tire per person limit, charged per tire, with oversized tires priced by weight. Residential solid waste page: the collection schedule, set-out guidelines, the second garbage day bulk instruction, the appliance call-in rule, the holiday list and the curbside refusal listPublic Works FAQ: the twice weekly garbage service, the once weekly yard waste and recycling, the bulk item arrangement line and the recycling bin order lineCommunity Clean-up page: the twice-yearly curbside event, its 2026 dates, the accepted building material list, the container weight limit and the excluded appliances, paint, tires and hazardous wasteHazardous and special waste page: the free household hazardous waste tunnel and its two receiving sites, the hours, the accepted chemical, electronics, tire, fluid, battery and propane lists and the tire limits and chargesDrop-off locations page: the Central Transfer Station and landfill addresses, hours and stated acceptance split

Tires come in under a four tire per person limit, and good products are set out in the reuse shop.

Businesses are not permitted to drop hazardous material through the household hazardous waste program, and sharps must arrive in a properly contained, sealed container. Tires are limited to four per person at this site and are charged per tire, with oversized tires charged by weight. Used motor oil is capped at twenty gallons and gasoline at five gallons per drop-off. The reuse shop limits a resident to fifteen items a day with no more than five of any one item, after signing a recipient agreement and liability waiver.

The household hazardous waste tunnel is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the transfer station itself is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the reuse shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. County customer service is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?
