Get it ready
Reduce branches, limbs and palm fronds to no more than four feet long, two feet across and fifty pounds, and keep single family material in a customer owned receptacle of no more than forty gallons. Bagging yard waste of any kind is prohibited, so no paper and no plastic bags, and the pile has to clear tree limbs and power lines or it will not be collected.
Nothing about bulk is scheduled by phone any more. Setting a pile out on the wrong week means it stays where it is and can draw a code enforcement fine.
Items have to be neatly stacked at the curb and separated by type, and a pile that is not contained and separated is not collected. Appliances go in their own spot so the hauler can tag them for the white goods truck, and the bulk trash and yard waste weeks never mix.
Do not pile bulk material near tree limbs or power lines, on storm drains, in front of fire hydrants, over water meters or on any other city utility. Yard waste too close to a limb or a line is a safety hazard and is left in place.

The size limits do not move: four feet long, two feet across and fifty pounds, no bags of any kind, and separation from the rest of the material. Landscaping companies have to haul away the debris their own work produces.
Construction and demolition material including asphalt, brick, concrete, drywall, lumber, rock and carpet, land clearing debris, whole tires, metal scraps and steel, white goods, wood pallets and yard waste, with a household hazardous waste collection centre on site for paints, solvents, gasoline, automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent lamps, mercury devices and household electronics.
Batteries, commercial electronics and brown goods, hazardous waste, liquid waste, mercury devices, motor vehicles, propane tanks, pressurised cylinders and untreated biomedical waste are refused at the landfill, and empty containers larger than twenty gallons need prior approval. Household sharps are taken at the hazardous waste centre rather than the landfill.
