Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Accepted with preparation

Only small amounts of building debris from a homeowner's own upkeep and maintenance go out on the bulk route, with protruding nails bent over. Debris from work that needed a city permit or from a hired contractor has to be removed by the homeowner or the contractor, and the city quotes larger construction projects as a commercial service.

City cost & eligibility
From $13.81 for the charge per cubic yard for a bulk collection beyond the four free collections in a calendar year. A small homeowner maintenance load uses the bulk junk allowance of four free collections a calendar year, up to 20 cubic yards each, and a load beyond the allowance is charged 13.81 per cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum. Debris from a job that needed a city permit, or from a hired contractor, is not collected at the curb.
When & how
Arrange the collection by email or at 863-834-8773 for a load the route accepts, and have the material at the curb for the scheduled day.
Get it ready
Bend protruding nails over when lumber is placed curbside, keep the load to the small homeowner maintenance amounts the route accepts, arrange your own removal for debris from a permitted job or a hired contractor, and keep paint, solvents and other chemicals out of the pile because those go to the Polk County household hazardous waste facility instead.

Book the bulk collection before the pile goes out

Bulk junk and bulk yard waste are scheduled by emailing customer service with the address and the type of material or by calling 863-834-8773, and the four free collections a calendar year cover up to 20 cubic yards each. Furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, couches, chairs, tree limbs and construction debris with the nails bent over go out together, while appliances wait for the special recycling truck and must be curbside before the pickup.

Arrange a bulk junk or yard waste collection

A city household with furniture, mattresses, couches, tree limbs, construction material or an appliance to clear.

Cost & conditions
From $13.81 for the charge per cubic yard for a collection beyond the four free collections in a calendar year. Four bulk yard waste or bulk junk collections a calendar year are free, up to 20 cubic yards each, and a collection beyond them is charged 13.81 per cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum. Arrange it
Email solidwastemanagement@lakelandgov.net with the address and the material at the curb, or call 863-834-8773, then put the material out for the scheduled collection.

Yard waste items may not be longer than eight feet, and hazardous products such as paint, chemicals, propane and batteries go to the Polk County household hazardous waste program instead of the curb.

Order a roll off container for a larger project

A contractor or household with a project load bigger than the bulk allowance for construction, renovation or clean up debris.

Cost & conditions
From $68 for the published roll off delivery charge. The published roll off charges are a 68.00 delivery charge plus a 149.59 pull charge plus disposal charges, and the same rates page carries the excess bulk rate of 13.81 per cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum for a load handled through the bulk route instead.
Arrange it
Call the solid waste office at 863-834-8773 to order the container before the project generates debris, and keep hazardous material out of the load.

Disposal is charged on top of delivery and pull, so the total depends on the material and the weight, and paint, solvents, chemicals and other hazardous products still go to the Polk County household hazardous waste program.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Lakeland serves every residence inside the city limits with weekly garbage, recycling and yard waste, and it gives each customer four free bulk yard waste or bulk junk collections a calendar year of up to 20 cubic yards each. Furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, couches, chairs and other household items go to the curb on a scheduled collection, construction and demolition debris goes out the same way with protruding nails bent over, and tree limbs and shrubbery trimmings count as bulk yard waste when the pile is larger than six feet by four feet or the material is too big for a container, with no item longer than eight feet. Appliances are collected by a special bulk truck for recycling and have to be curbside before the pickup. Anything beyond the four free collections is charged by the cubic yard with a minimum, and a roll off container carries a delivery charge, a pull charge and the disposal cost. Household chemicals, paint, batteries, fuels, propane, flares, cooking oil and electronics go to the Polk County household hazardous waste facility at the North Central Landfill in Winter Haven, free for county residents, with paint limited to 20 gallons a year and electronics to five components per visit, or to a county collection event such as the February 6, 2027 event at the Lakeland Solid Waste site on 602 Evelyn Ave. Tires cannot go in a city cart and are not part of the bulk list, so a tire goes back to a retailer or to a county answer at 863-284-4319.
