From $19.77 each load of construction and demolition debris at the Central County Landfill under the minimum, with the published per ton rate applied above the minimum. Rates in effect October 1, 2024, and the county accepts only waste generated in Sarasota County, so confirm the current rate with the Sarasota County Contact Center at 941-861-5000 before hauling.
When & how
Self-haul to the Central County Landfill disposal area Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and arrive at least 30 minutes before closing if you unload by hand.
Get it ready
Wear closed toe shoes, and wear a safety vest and hard hat in the construction and demolition disposal area. Keep the load separated, because an unseparated load is charged double the solid waste tonnage fee, and keep garbage, carpet and padding, furniture, vegetation, fencing, dirt, clothing and household goods out of a construction load because the landfill does not accept those as construction debris.
Fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, pool chemicals, automotive products, paint and paint solvents, cleaning chemicals, sharps, unused medications, adhesives, fertilizers, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, propane cylinders and tires stay out of the garbage and the recycling totes. The city runs two household hazardous waste collection events each year, in Spring and Fall at the Public Works facility on W. Price Blvd, and county residents can also use a chemical collection centre.
