If you would rather not wait for a collection day, Rockdale County runs the Recycling Center at 1200 Sigman Road, about a mile north of exit 82 off Interstate 20. The site takes garbage, bulky household items, mattresses, yard debris, scrap metal and tires, and the limits are set per household per week. Bring identification and proof of address, because the center serves Rockdale County and City of Conyers residents only and turns away commercial loads. Appliances are accepted when the unit does not contain a Freon compressor, which covers most washers, dryers, ranges and similar equipment.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are not accepted because they contain a Freon compressor. Rockdale County and City of Conyers residents only, with no commercial loads.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sunday, Monday and county holidays. The yard debris and wood pile area closes at 4:30 p.m. daily.
