Will the city
take it?

Cumming splits its waste work with the county, and the split decides where anything goes. Inside the city limits the Streets Department runs a free curbside pickup on Mondays and Wednesdays for yard debris, old furniture, appliances, carpet and a small amount of building material, hauling better than five hundred tons of residents' yard debris a year. That same service refuses mattresses, tires, paint and hazardous materials outright, and it does not take electronics either. Everything else runs through Forsyth County, which states plainly that it does not provide curbside trash pickup and sends its city households back to the city on (770) 781-2019. The county's three convenience centres take bagged household trash, most recyclables free of charge, scrap metal including washers and dryers, and for a published fee the two streams the city will not touch: televisions and other electronics at the Tolbert Street centre, and tires at Coal Mountain.

The city pickup takes only a small amount of building material, and anything beyond that has to go into a private dumpster the resident arranges.
