The city states plainly that it cannot remove furniture or any other large item with the trash cart, and the yard debris page repeats that it does not take couches, mattresses, refrigerators or washing machines either. The route for a large household item is the county landfill.
City cost & eligibility
From $20 for minimum load charge up to 500 pounds at the Paulding County landfill, with the gate rate at $75 per ton above that. The fee schedule is the one effective January 1, 2023, payment is by cash, credit or debit card or check with a driver's license and phone number for a check, and no load larger than five cubic yards of construction or debris is accepted.

The city does not take a mattress on either route, and the county landfill added its own charge for bedding: effective April 12, 2025 an added charge applies per mattress box spring on top of the load charge.

Carts go out the night before the scheduled service day because routes start as early as 5 a.m., and all trash has to be inside the receptacle. Closed Sunday and all major holidays, no load larger than five cubic yards of construction or debris, no commercial loads after 4 p.m. or on Saturdays, out of county loads refused on Saturdays, and batteries, computer equipment, gas tanks, oil, wet paint, tires and crossties refused.
Self-hauling in Dallas means one trip to County Services Lane, where the county landfill and the recycling center sit on the same site. The landfill takes household and debris loads with a minimum charge for the first 500 pounds and a per ton rate above that, accepts refrigerators and air conditioners for an extra fee that can be waived with a certified freon removal statement, adds a charge per mattress box spring, and refuses batteries, computer equipment, gas tanks, oil, wet paint, tires and crossties. The recycling center next door takes those computer items along with cardboard, paper, glass, plastics numbered one and two, motor oil, vehicle batteries and tires, with a fee for tires and a closed Wednesday.
