Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are not part of the weekly curbside franchise, and the county recycling center takes flat screen televisions, flat screen monitors and most electronics at Blalock Road while refusing tube and projection televisions and CRT monitors.

City cost & eligibility
The Cherokee County price list charges $20 per flat screen television and $10 per flat screen computer monitor at the Blalock Road site, with a $1 transaction fee up to $50 and 3 percent on larger amounts, while tube and projection televisions and CRT monitors are refused there and no curbside electronics route exists on the retained city pages. Confirm the item and the current list before loading, because flat screen only means LED, LCD or plasma.
When & how
Take accepted electronics to the Cherokee County Recycling Center at 470 Blalock Road in Canton, open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, or check the city's annual household hazardous waste and recycling event before driving.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, phones and drives before they leave the house, keep each device dry and intact, and never put batteries, bulbs or a tube television into a curbside cart because the county refuses those items.

Weekly collection covers trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky items

Red Oak Sanitation collects once a week Monday through Friday under the city franchise, with single stream recycling on the same day as garbage. Each household gets one 95 gallon trash cart and may add up to eight bags that hold no more than 13 gallons each, and recyclables have to fit inside the provided recycling cart and follow the county guidelines. Yard waste goes out in bags or bundles with limbs cut to 4 feet or less, limited to eight bags or bundles per pickup, a limit shared with the trash bag allowance. Two bulky items a week are included, and a household with more than two bulky items to put out at one time has to notify Red Oak Sanitation in advance.

Hazardous and building material belongs at the county, not the curb truck

The Cherokee County Recycling Center publishes what it will and will not take. It refuses commercial recycling including small home businesses, tube and projection televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs of any type, unbagged household trash, wood or plastic furniture, plastic film, tires, motor oil, antifreeze, building and remodeling material and construction waste, and it turns away loads larger than a pickup or SUV bed. Vegetation is taken only when bagged, at a published per bag rate. Large items, commercial material, construction debris and wood go instead to one of the two privately owned landfills in the county, which charge their own rates. Cardboard has to arrive flattened and single stream material has to be in a container, because staff will not unload loose material.

Take household items to the Cherokee County Recycling Center

A household that would rather haul recyclables, appliances, mattresses, electronics, batteries, paint or scrap metal than set them out for the weekly pickup.

Cost & conditions
Recyclables such as cans, paper, plastic bottles and containers, flattened cardboard and glass are free for Cherokee County residents, while the published price list charges separate amounts for pay items including $20 per mattress or box spring, $15 for a full size appliance, $20 for a flat screen television, $10 for a flat screen computer monitor and $5 for a one gallon can of paint, with a $1 transaction fee up to $50 and 3 percent on larger amounts and $10 for out-of-county loads. Check the current list before loading.
Arrange it
Take the load to 470 Blalock Road in Canton, the site that accepts single stream recycling, glass and every pay item. It opens Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and stays closed Sunday and Monday.

Commercial recycling including small home businesses is refused, only one visit per day is allowed, cardboard has to be flattened and single stream material has to arrive in a container because staff will not unload loose material. Tube and projection televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs, wood or plastic furniture, plastic film, tires, motor oil, antifreeze, construction and remodeling material and loads larger than a pickup or SUV bed are refused.

Use the city's household hazardous waste collection event

A household holding batteries, electronics, paper to shred, textiles, cell phones, eyeglasses, ink cartridges or compact fluorescent bulbs that should not go in a cart.

Cost & conditions
The city describes the annual household hazardous waste collection event and the seasonal recycling event it runs with as no-cost opportunities, but the retained page announces the earlier year's date and registration, so confirm the current year's date, location and accepted materials before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Check the city newsroom and the registration page the city links for the current year's event, then register if the city requires it and bring the items during the published window.

The event runs on a single announced day rather than year round, the retained page does not carry the current year's details, and material that is not on the event's accepted list still has to go to the county recycling center or a landfill.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The county runs the main site at 470 Blalock Road in Canton, which accepts single stream recycling, glass and all of the pay items, and a smaller site at 6688 Bells Ferry Road at Hobgood Park that accepts only single stream recycling and glass. Both open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and stay closed Sunday and Monday, with holiday changes posted on the county Facebook page. Wood and plastic furniture, tube and projection televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs, plastic film, tires, motor oil, antifreeze, construction and remodeling material and loads larger than a pickup or SUV bed are refused, and large items, commercial material, construction debris and wood have to go to one of the two privately owned landfills in the county. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Woodstock.

How much does TV removal cost in Woodstock?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Woodstock?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Woodstock?

To the Cherokee County Recycling Center at Blalock Road, which takes flat screen televisions and flat screen computer monitors along with most other electronics but refuses tube and projection televisions and CRT monitors. The price list charges a fee per screen and per monitor, and the site opens Tuesday through Friday and Saturday morning, so check the list and wipe personal data before the trip.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Woodstock?

Red Oak Sanitation does, under a city franchise agreement approved on April 13, 2026 that begins July 1, 2026. The city negotiates a single residential provider and holds it to performance standards rather than running its own trucks, and Red Oak collects garbage, single stream recycling, yard waste and bulky items once a week Monday through Friday for roughly 12,076 households. Billing and customer service run through the operator, and the city sanitation page links to the operator's Woodstock service page.Official guidance

What will Cherokee County not take at the recycling center?

The county refuses commercial recycling including small home businesses, tube and projection televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs of any type, unbagged household trash, wood or plastic furniture where only metal is accepted, plastic film, motor oil, antifreeze, tires, building and remodeling material, construction waste and loads larger than a pickup or SUV bed. Vegetation is accepted only when bagged, and large items, construction debris and wood have to go to one of the two privately owned landfills in the county.Official guidance

Where do paint, batteries and chemicals go in Woodstock?

Paint, batteries and most electronics go to the Cherokee County Recycling Center at Blalock Road, where the price list charges each as a pay item and recyclables stay free for county residents. The city also runs a no-cost annual household hazardous waste collection event alongside a seasonal recycling event, but the retained announcement carries an earlier year's date, so confirm the current year's date, location and accepted materials before loading a vehicle.Official guidance
