Where to donate books in Minneapolis

You can donate books at any Hennepin County Library in Minneapolis. Books must be free of mold, tears and other damage. The library uses donations to raise funds through resale, so donated books are not necessarily added to its circulating collection.

Choose reusable books

Separate damaged books before packing. Keep books dry and use manageable boxes. For an unusually large collection, ask the receiving library how much it can handle before travelling.

Understand the destination

Local Friends groups or a third-party vendor may resell donated books to support the library. If you want a specific title placed with a particular reader or program, arrange that directly rather than assuming the donation will be shelved.

When Dropcurb helps

If your Minneapolis book clear-out leaves accepted boxes to remove, Dropcurb handles loading and transport once they are outside and accessible. Pack books in manageable boxes and count each filled box, not each book. Check heavy or oversized boxes with us first. Choose the charity directly when your goal is donation; standard pickup does not promise a donation destination.
