Answer sources: Bikes for the World donation conditions; SA Recycling appliance and material FAQ
Check the bike before arranging donation
Look for a complete or nearly complete adult or child bicycle. Minor missing parts or flat tires may be acceptable, but heavy rust, seized components and other listed exclusions can prevent acceptance. Confirm the program’s current requirements before taking the bike to a collection or drop-off location.

Plan the actual handoff
Donation still requires a practical transport plan. Confirm where the program receives bicycles and how you will get the bike there; donation acceptance does not mean pickup is available for every bicycle.

Handle electric bikes separately
An electric bike is not covered by the standard bicycle donation path. Ask about battery requirements and use the program’s current e-bike guidance before arranging transport.

When transport is the obstacle
For an accepted outdoor non-electric bicycle, Dropcurb handles loading, transportation and disposal. The bike must be outside and accessible before pickup; indoor carry-out is not available. E-bikes and their batteries need separate eligibility confirmation before booking.
