Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and remodeling debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction and demolition material is refused in the garbage cart, and the route is a self haul to the landfill at its published rate or a private hauler.

City cost & eligibility
The authority states that construction and demolition material is not allowed in the garbage cart, listing rubble, concrete, wood and metal among the material that has to stay out. The route is a self haul to Metro Park East Landfill, which publishes a per ton rate with a minimum for construction and demolition loads, or a private hauler or container.
When & how
Take the load to Metro Park East Landfill during its posted weekday and Saturday hours, or arrange a private hauler or container for a larger project.
Get it ready
Separate clean concrete, wood and metal so the load can be priced, keep hazardous material such as asbestos out entirely, and keep construction debris out of the carts and out of the yard waste pile, because the yard waste program excludes dirt, sod, stumps, mulch and rocks.

With a new purchase

Private hauler or container for a project load

A household or contractor with construction, remodeling or demolition material, or a load larger than a curb pickup takes.

Cost & conditions
No public rate covers a container or a construction haul, so confirm the container size, the material, the access at the property and the price directly with the company before it is delivered.
Arrange it
Describe the material and where it will be staged, ask whether the load will be separated by material type, and confirm the destination before the container arrives.

Construction and demolition material cannot go in the garbage cart, and the landfill charges a load that mixes material types at the highest applicable rate, so keeping concrete, wood and metal apart can change the cost.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

An Ankeny household can haul its own material, and the authority runs the gates. Metro Park East Landfill at 12181 NE University Ave. in Mitchellville takes residential garbage, construction and demolition material, mattresses and box springs, appliances at a published recycling rate with the doors removed from refrigerators and freezers, electronics and televisions that do not contain a cathode ray tube, and tires by size, and the compost center on the same property takes yard waste year round. Small vehicles pay a flat rate and larger vehicles pay by the ton with a minimum, and a mixed load is charged at the highest rate. Household chemicals, batteries, light bulbs, paint and sharps go to the Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off at 1105 Prairie Drive SW in Bondurant, which is free for most items up to a 75 pound allowance, or by appointment at the Grimes transfer station, which does not take electronics, appliances or tires. Ankeny also has a recycling drop-off at the City Maintenance Facility at 211 SE Lorenz Drive. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Ankeny.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Ankeny?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Ankeny?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can construction debris go in the garbage cart?

No. The authority lists construction and demolition material as not allowed in the garbage cart, together with rubble, concrete, wood, metal, rechargeable batteries, household cleaners and lawn and garden chemicals.Official guidance

Where does construction material go instead?

To Metro Park East Landfill, which publishes a per ton construction and demolition rate with a minimum charge, or to a private hauler or container. Loads that mix material types are charged at the highest applicable rate, so keeping concrete, wood and metal separate can change the cost.Official guidance
