Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are accepted at the Council Bluffs Recycling Center and priced by weight at forty-five cents a pound, with televisions, monitors in all three screen types, computers, printers, phones and networking gear all on the accepted list.

City cost & eligibility
From $0.45 per pound for electronic devices at the Council Bluffs Recycling Center, with devices weighed on arrival and charged on actual weight and transactions rounded to the nearest dollar. Accepted electronics include televisions in flat screen, plasma and CRT types, LCD, LED and CRT monitors, computers and laptops, printers and scanners, phones and tablets, networking equipment, cables and chargers, electric scooters and fluorescent light ballasts. Electronics are also named on the city's bulky waste list, where two collections a year are arranged with the hauler instead.
When & how
Take the devices to the Council Bluffs Recycling Center at 4441 Gifford Rd, open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call Waste Connections at (712) 890-5549 to add electronics to a bulky collection.
Get it ready
Wipe stored data where the device powers on, keep cords and accessories with it, and expect the centre to weigh the load on arrival, since the charge is per pound of actual weight. The centre is not a landfill or transfer station and does not take household garbage, ashes, asbestos, ammunition, dirt or soil.

Right place.

Sort the load before the Recycling Center scale

The Recycling Center charges construction material by the ton with a minimum per load, so clean concrete, unpainted untreated lumber and mixed construction debris are kept apart, and loose insulation is bagged. Electronics are weighed on arrival at forty-five cents a pound, so bringing the devices separately keeps the charge clear. Payment is required at the time of service and scavenging is prohibited, and household garbage, ashes, asbestos, ammunition, dead animals, dirt, soil, fire-damaged material and fireworks are refused.

Use the hazardous material window

Household hazardous material goes to the Council Bluffs Recycling Center but only during its own window, which is closed Monday and open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on the second Saturday of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Leave material in its original container, bring a driver's licence, and expect a short questionnaire, with unlabelled items accepted subject to an extra questionnaire. Cleaning products, automotive fluids and filters, pesticides, paint, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, cooking oil and bagged vape devices are all accepted.

worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Council Bluffs.

How much does TV removal cost in Council Bluffs?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Council Bluffs?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
