Tires

Special rules apply

Tires are not a city collection stream. Bonneville County takes them at the Transfer Station with a published fee for each size, and the Hatch Pit refuses them, while Idaho law requires waste tires to go to an approved site.

City cost & eligibility
From $3 per tire at the Bonneville County Transfer Station, beginning at 3 dollars for a motorcycle tire and rising to 5 dollars for an automobile, light truck or UTV tire up to 19.5 inches, 20 dollars for a semi truck tire from 19.5 to 24.5 inches and 50 dollars for a farm implement tire from 25 to 50 inches, with bulk disposal at 500 dollars per ton. Waste tires brought to the Transfer Station at 2455 Hemmert Ave, with or without the rim, and no earth moving equipment or tracks. Proof of residency is required when the vehicle is registered outside Bonneville County.
When & how
The Transfer Station takes tires during its open hours, Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Take tires there rather than to the Hatch Pit, which lists tires among the material it refuses.
Get it ready
Count the tires and note the sizes before the trip, because the fee changes with each size band, and keep off-road and farm tires separate because Idaho's waste tire definition excludes them even though the county publishes a farm implement fee line. Keep the stack small on your own property, because Idaho limits how many tires may be stored at one site.

The city leaves large items and renovation debris to the county

The city has no duty to remove dirt, earth or debris from construction, renovation or demolition, appliances and white goods, large or heavy machines, tree trunks, hazardous waste and waste oils, dead animals, or any waste that is not inside a city-provided container. Those loads go to the Bonneville County Transfer Station at 2455 Hemmert Ave or the Hatch Pit on N Recycle Rd, and the city code also bars private businesses from hauling or disposing of waste for profit inside the city, apart from licensed recycling businesses.

Self hauling in Idaho Falls runs to Bonneville County. The Transfer Station at 2455 Hemmert Ave on 208-528-5550 is open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and takes household garbage, furniture, mattresses, carpet, bulky metal items and appliances, with published per item fees for refrigerant units and a published per size tire schedule, plus grass clippings and leaves, solidified latex paint and lead acid batteries. Hatch Pit loads are charged by vehicle on a sorted or unsorted basis, with no fee for clean wood, tree limbs and branches that can be ground for reuse. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Tire disposal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Idaho Falls.

How much does tire disposal cost?

A non-commercial car or pickup-truck tire is $99 first and $20 additional. A commercial automotive tire up to 120 lb is $125 first and $55 additional. Count each tire separately.

How do I book a set of four tires?

Choose the matching tire type and set the quantity to four. The first tire uses the first-item price and the remaining three use the additional-item price. Review your total before payment.

Do you take tires still mounted on rims?

Text our team a photo before booking so we can confirm the scope and price for your setup.

Can my tire shop take the old tires?

Ask the tire retailer or your local waste authority about their collection options and requirements. If the tires are already at home, Dropcurb offers a separately booked outdoor pickup for the listed tire types.

Can I arrange same-day pickup?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.

Where should I put my items?

Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.

What does it cost to get rid of tires in Idaho Falls?

Bonneville County charges by tire size at the Transfer Station, from the motorcycle rate up through automobile, light truck or UTV tires up to 19.5 inches, semi truck tires from 19.5 to 24.5 inches and farm implement tires from 25 to 50 inches, with a separate per ton rate for bulk disposal. The full scale is published on the county's tire fee table, and no earth moving equipment or tracks are accepted. Rims may stay on. Idaho law requires waste tires to go to an approved site, limits how many may be stored at one property and sets an illegal dumping penalty for each tire.Official guidance
