Tires are banned from the trash cart and the recycling cart, so a Nampa household takes them across the county landfill scales, where each tire is charged on top of the load weight.
City cost & eligibility
From $3.5 per passenger or light truck tire at the Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill, in addition to the weight of the load. Canyon and Owyhee County residents, with up to 15 passenger or light truck tires taken per load and up to four passenger car or light truck tires free per household on the county free day; tires larger than passenger or light truck are refused.
When & how
Load the tires on a covered and secured load and take them across the scales during weekday or Saturday hours. The county free day in April is the one route that takes a small set of passenger tires without a tire charge.
Get it ready
Keep the tires out of the carts, off the curb and out of any curbside pile, and bring them as loose tires rather than attached to wheels or equipment so the screener can count them.
Tires, liquids, hazardous waste, vehicle batteries, electronics and yard waste stay out of the trash cart, and glass, plastic bags, food waste and yard waste stay out of the recycling cart. A banned item goes on a scheduled pickup, to a county collection event or to the landfill instead of sitting at the curb.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
A landlord, business or household with an oversized pile, a mixed construction load or material that neither the carts nor a scheduled pickup will take.
Cost & conditions
No private hauling rate is published, and the city cart service is set by address rather than by volume, so the price depends on the hauler, the material and the load size. Ask for a quote before the pile is set out, and confirm where the load is going because some material still has to reach the county landfill.
Arrange it
Arrange the pickup with a licensed hauler and keep the material off the right of way until the hauler arrives, so a banned item is not left for the city or county crew to find.
A private hauler does not change the county's residency rule at the gate or the ban on hazardous waste, tires and electronics in the carts, so the load still has to reach a permitted site.
Self hauling a Nampa load means the Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill on Missouri Avenue, which takes household waste from Canyon and Owyhee County residents, weighs every load at the scale house and keeps separate recycling areas for computers, bulk metal and appliances, refrigerators, lead acid batteries, used motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, clean wood and tires. Household garbage and solid waste from Canyon and Owyhee County residents, lead acid car and truck batteries, up to 10 gallons each of latex and lead based paint, used motor oil, used antifreeze and old gasoline or diesel from residents, refrigeration units, clean wood, construction and demolition material, green waste, tires, mattresses, televisions from households only, and the recycling area for computers, bulk metal and appliances, refrigerators, newspapers, magazines and aluminum or tin cans.
Household waste comes from Canyon and Owyhee County residents only and out-of-county loads are refused without prior approval; loads must be covered and secured; refrigerators, tires, wood and metal are separated from other waste; up to 15 passenger or light truck tires are taken per load; televisions are accepted from households only; and motor homes, buses and any drivable vehicle that needs licensure are not accepted.

From $5 for minimum fee for Canyon and Owyhee County residents, published as five dollars on the county solid waste page while the fiscal year 2025 fee schedule prints a ten dollar minimum fee, with municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, green waste, clean wood, tires, mattresses and refrigeration units priced separately by ton, by tire or by unit. How do I book a set of four tires?+
Choose the matching tire type and set the quantity to four. The first tire uses the first-item price and the remaining three use the additional-item price. Review your total before payment.

Can my tire shop take the old tires?+

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.
Where should I put my items?+
Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.
