Get it ready
Rigid containers up to 32 gallon may not exceed 50 pounds and larger containers must be wheeled carts. Kraft paper bags may hold yard waste only, may not exceed 32 gallons or 50 pounds, and plastic bags are refused. Brush bundles must be tied with cloth or twine without wire or plastic, under 50 pounds, 5 feet long and 3.5 inches in diameter, and brush or logs over 3.5 inches are taken as garbage instead.
Everything goes out on the same weekly collection day
Refuse, recycling, organics and your bulk items all ride the same weekly collection day, out as early as 4:30 p.m. the day before and no later than 6:30 a.m. that morning. A late set-out is not collected until the following week, and empty carts are taken in the same day as collection.
Carts sit on the driveway apron at the curb line or on the parkway with the handle facing away from the street, a two foot gap from the next cart, mailbox and sign post, and the lid closed. Nothing goes on top of a closed lid, and carts are not stored in front of the property between collection days.

$4.27 per month for the optional yard waste cart rental, at the 2026 rate, paid directly to the village through the refuse bill. Village curbside customers who arrange the optional rental with Public Works on 847-870-5640. The rental is separate from the unlimited yard waste collection, which carries no additional charge.

The rental is billed monthly for the season from April through mid-December, and the cart follows the same container rules as a household container: no plastic bags, no styrofoam and no material over 50 pounds in a 32 gallon container.
