Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

The Village publishes one bulky item a week and names neither exercise equipment nor a rate for it. Call Waste Management customer service at (800) 964-8988 to confirm the machine can go out with the weekly pickup before you move it to the curb.
When & how
Call Waste Management before setting the machine out, then put it at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day once the pickup is confirmed.
Get it ready
Take off loose weights, shelves and accessories, and keep the machine and its parts out of the refuse cart while the pickup is arranged.

Households with one large item to clear, such as a couch, a mattress, a small table or rolled carpet.
Cost & conditions
No charge. One bulky item per household with each weekly collection at residential properties in the Village's contracted service area. No separate bulky item fee is published.
Arrange it
Set the item beside the carts by 6:00 a.m. on your regular collection day, about three feet away from the containers so the truck arm has room to work.
One bulky item a week, and the item has to be something a resident would take when moving out. Carpet must be cut and rolled, and a second item or a very heavy machine needs its own arrangement with Waste Management.
Orland Park runs no public drop-off site of its own, and the Village sends residents to Waste Management for the weekly collection. The closest public drop-off belongs to the Orland Township Highway Department at 16125 S. Wolf Road, where electronics, household appliances without refrigerant, scrap metal, paper and cardboard are accepted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Village page also notes that no household hazardous waste event is scheduled at the moment. Anything the Township does not take, including furniture and mattresses, refrigerant appliances and construction debris, has to move through the weekly collection, a scheduled WM service or a rented container, so call ahead before loading a trailer.
