You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Prairie Village allows one bulky item a month, set out in the first full week, and the allowance is deliberately small: no more than two feet by two feet and under forty-five pounds, described as rugs, counter top appliances or small furniture. Anything larger is a special pickup arranged with the hauler.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Prairie Village households on the Republic Services residential contract, for the one monthly item that fits the size and weight allowance. A larger piece is a special pickup through Republic on 816-521-3129, which the city says may carry an additional charge.
When & how
Put the item out in the first full week of the month on the household's weekly collection day, which comes from the city pickup schedule map.
Get it ready
Keep the piece inside the two foot by two foot and forty-five pound allowance, and leave suitable bulky items for the monthly week rather than the trash cart, where trash is limited to what fits inside. Construction materials, batteries, tires, automotive parts and hazardous waste are excluded from bulky pickup, and an unsuitable item is flagged with a tag telling the household a special pickup is required.
Trash carts are the blue containers with blue lids. They go within one foot of the curb with the arrows pointing toward the street, with three feet of space between the trash cart and the recycling cart. Carts are stored in the garage or behind the front building line and screened from the view of people using public streets or walkways except when they are out for pickup.
Twelve yard items a week, one small bulky item a month
The two allowances are very different. Yard waste runs every week of the year at twelve items a week, in paper bags or rigid containers of thirty three gallons or less, with tied bundles of four feet, under twenty four inches around and under fifty pounds. The bulky allowance is one item a month in the first full week, and it has to be no larger than two feet by two feet and under forty five pounds.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Arrange it
Put the item at the curb in the first full week of the month on the household's weekly collection day, with the piece inside the size and weight limits.
One item a month, and nothing larger than two feet by two feet or forty-five pounds. Construction materials, batteries, tires, automotive parts and hazardous waste are excluded, and an oversized piece is tagged as needing a special pickup.
City of Prairie Village with Republic Services on the residential collection contract and Johnson County for household hazardous waste
Arrange a special pickup with Republic Services
A household with a large item that does not fit the monthly bulky allowance.
Cost & conditions
The city states only that Republic may require an additional charge for a special pickup and publishes no rate, so call 816-521-3129 and confirm the price and the collection arrangement before the item goes out.
Arrange it
Call Republic Services on 816-521-3129 to arrange the pickup, since the monthly allowance will not take the piece.
The charge is set by the hauler rather than published by the city, and construction materials, batteries, tires, automotive parts and hazardous waste stay excluded however the pickup is arranged.
Self haul in Prairie Village means leaving the city for two streams and using the kerb for the rest. Household chemicals go to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment at 11231 Mastin St in Overland Park, open year round on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment through the county website or on 913-715-6907, because the city excludes hazardous waste from both the trash cart and the bulky allowance. Glass goes to the purple Ripple Glass bin at Corinth Square along 83rd Street, since curbside glass is not a city service, and the city names two licensed private providers, Crush Glass and Food Cycle KC, for anyone who wants glass collected at home. Everything else works from the kerb: trash limited to the blue cart with an overflow sticker for bags beyond it at the price carried in the charge record, unlimited loose recycling with cardboard cut to two feet by two feet, twelve yard waste items a week in paper bags or rigid containers of thirty three gallons or less with tied bundles under fifty pounds, and one small bulky item a month in the first full week, no larger than two feet by two feet and under forty five pounds, with anything bigger arranged as a special pickup through Republic on 816-521-3129. The city also runs free community composting with KC Can Compost at five parks. City trash, recycling and yard waste page with the weekly collection and cart placement rulesCity FAQ for trash, recycling and yard waste, including the overflow sticker price and where to buy it

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+

Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
