  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

Massachusetts requires mattresses and box springs to be recycled, so Everett runs them through a paid programme rather than the regular trash, with the fee paid at the Collector's Office and a sticker and plastic bag issued for each item.

City cost & eligibility
$70 for for the first mattress or box spring, with each additional mattress or box spring at 45.00, paid in cash only at the Collector's Office and capped at three mattresses or box springs per pickup. Everett residents, paying in cash in person at the Collector's Office on the first floor of Everett City Hall.
When & how
The pickup day is assigned at the Collector's Office when the fee is paid and is written on the receipt, and the items go curbside on that day.
Get it ready
Pay first, then bag each mattress or box spring in the plastic bag supplied, attach the sticker to the bag or the item, and place it curbside on the scheduled day.

Appliances and furniture need a white goods sticker first

Everett does not collect an appliance or a piece of furniture without a white goods sticker. The sticker is bought in cash at the Receiver Window in the Collector's Office, Room 13 at Everett City Hall: an appliance carrying a sticker goes out on the Wednesday appliance run, and furniture goes out on the address's designated trash day. Mattresses run on a separate recycling fee at the same office instead of the white goods route.

Mattresses run on their own paid recycling route

Because state regulation requires mattress and box spring recycling, Everett residents pay at the Collector's Office and receive a sticker and a plastic bag for each item, then put the bagged items curbside on the date written on the receipt. A fee applies to the first mattress or box spring with a lower fee for each additional item, paid in cash, with a maximum of three per pickup.

What the July bulk week will not take

The city's July holiday overflow week adds a free curbside bulk item pickup for single, two and three family households, capped at three items with a city sticker on each and registration required before the published deadline, but it refuses mattresses, box springs, construction materials, hazardous waste and white goods such as appliances. Those items keep their own routes: mattresses through the recycling fee at the Collector's Office, appliances and furniture through a white goods sticker, and chemicals through the annual Hazardous Waste Day.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Everett runs a curbside only programme and publishes no resident transfer station, so there is no city yard to drive a load to: household trash is collected weekly by street, single stream recycling goes out on the city's collection, and yard waste is collected every other week on the published schedule, with bins ordered through 311. Large items move through the in person sticker system instead. An appliance or a piece of furniture needs a white goods sticker bought in cash at the Receiver Window in the Collector's Office, Room 13 at Everett City Hall, with appliances collected on the Wednesday run and furniture on the address's designated trash day. Mattresses and box springs follow a separate recycling fee paid at the same office, with a sticker and a plastic bag for each item and a maximum of three per pickup. During the July holiday overflow week the city adds a free curbside bulk item pickup capped at three items, registered in advance and marked with a city sticker, but it refuses mattresses, box springs, construction material, hazardous waste and white goods. Chemicals go to the annual Hazardous Waste Day at Rivergreen Park, which in turn refuses electronics and bulk items, and anything else is quoted by a private hauler such as Casella, which lists bulk, appliance, furniture, mattress and e-waste pickup in Everett. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Everett.

How much does mattress removal cost in Everett?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Everett?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

Will Everett recycle my mattress or box spring?

Yes, on a paid route: state regulation requires the items to be recycled, so residents buy a sticker at the Collector's Office, take a plastic bag for each item, and set them out on the day written on the receipt. A fee applies to the first mattress or box spring with a lower fee for each additional item, paid in cash, with a maximum of three per pickup.Official guidance

How do I get rid of a large item in Everett?

An appliance or a piece of furniture needs a white goods sticker bought in cash at the Receiver Window in the Collector's Office, Room 13 at Everett City Hall, with appliances collected on Wednesdays and furniture on the address's designated trash day. Mattresses and box springs are recycled separately for a fee paid at the same office, and the city's July holiday week adds a free curbside bulk item pickup capped at three items.Official guidance

What will Everett not take at the curb?

The city's bulk item week refuses mattresses, box springs, construction materials, hazardous waste and white goods, and an appliance or a piece of furniture needs a white goods sticker before it goes out at all. Chemicals, paint, batteries and automotive fluids go to the annual Hazardous Waste Day at Rivergreen Park, which in turn refuses appliances, furniture, bulk items, electronics, tires and latex paint.Official guidance
