Get it ready
Leaves and grass may be dropped loose or in biodegradable paper bags, and every bag has to be emptied and taken home. Brush must be under six inches in diameter, and the pile has to stay free of trash and debris so the compost stays clean.
Trash only leaves the curb in the city cart or an orange overflow bag
Household trash goes out in the city-issued 64-gallon wheeled cart, bagged, with the lid closed and nothing placed on top of it. Waste that does not fit goes in an official orange overflow bag beside the cart, and the allowance is five overflow bags a week; a household that regularly produces more has to arrange private pickup or rent an extra cart from the city. The bags are for household trash only, so yard waste, recyclables, construction debris and hazardous material do not belong in them, and bags go beside the cart rather than on or inside it.
The banned list is what sends a clear-out to another route
Appliances, air conditioners, televisions, computers, fluorescent light fixtures, waste oil, leaves and yard waste outside an approved collection day, tires, engines, batteries, chain link fence, wood, demolition debris and metals are all banned from the trash cart, and the city leaves those items at the curb when they are put out. They go to the Recycling Center, to a booked bulky pickup or to a household hazardous waste event instead. A move-out pile that exceeds the cart and the overflow bag allowance has to be collected privately.
Set-out windows, cart placement and who is eligible
Nothing goes to the curb before 4:00 PM on the day before collection, everything has to be out by 6:00 AM on the collection day, and empty containers come back off the curb by 11:59 PM that night. Carts need about three feet of clearance from poles, mailboxes, hydrants, trees and parked cars, no more than five feet from the curb edge, with the lid arrows facing the street so the truck arm can service them. Single-family homes through eight-unit buildings are eligible for city collection, with one cart per unit, and a condominium complex already on dumpster service keeps that service.

Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, year round. Waste oil is taken only on the last Saturday of the month, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a five-gallon limit.
