The city collects a single bulky item per week from each residential unit that has a pay-as-you-throw set out, and the item leaves on the normal trash day. A mattress, a box spring, white goods, bulk metal, a television, a computer monitor, a sofa bed and a recliner are all outside that allowance and need one of the other routes, so a pile built from the wrong categories will not be taken.

The city is split into an A week and a B week and each half sets recycling out every other week on its normal trash day, which the city publishes in a collection schedule listing the addresses. Recycling is single stream, so paper, cardboard and commingled containers can share the cart, but the material goes in loose and clean rather than in plastic bags, and a cart holding mixed waste and recyclables is not collected. One cart comes free with the service and extra carts are available from the Department of Public Works at 90 Ingell Street.
