Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions, computer monitors and other electronics are kept out of the trash and out of the bulky allowance, and the city's e-waste sticker program ended in 2020. Residents pay a published per-item rate at the Convenience Center, and the city's mattress contractor HandUp also takes flat screen televisions and computer monitors and towers on a scheduled pickup for a fee.

City cost & eligibility
From $10 per item at the City Convenience Center, with computer monitors, televisions under 21 inches, keyboards, mice and computer towers at the entry rate and larger televisions at higher published rates, and the HandUp pickup quoted separately. Taunton residents. The city retired its e-waste sticker program and residents now pay the established rates to dispose of electronic waste at the Convenience Center.
When & how
The Convenience Center takes electronics Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A HandUp pickup is booked for a chosen date alongside its mattress service.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors and other electronics out of the trash and out of the bulky pile, wipe personal data before any handover, and check the screen size before the trip because the television rate steps up with the size of the set.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

One bulky item per week, and the carve-outs are strict

The city collects a single bulky item per week from each residential unit that has a pay-as-you-throw set out, and the item leaves on the normal trash day. A mattress, a box spring, white goods, bulk metal, a television, a computer monitor, a sofa bed and a recliner are all outside that allowance and need one of the other routes, so a pile built from the wrong categories will not be taken.

Recycling runs every other week on the same day as trash

The city is split into an A week and a B week and each half sets recycling out every other week on its normal trash day, which the city publishes in a collection schedule listing the addresses. Recycling is single stream, so paper, cardboard and commingled containers can share the cart, but the material goes in loose and clean rather than in plastic bags, and a cart holding mixed waste and recyclables is not collected. One cart comes free with the service and extra carts are available from the Department of Public Works at 90 Ingell Street.

Drop the item at the city Convenience Center

A household that would rather drive a mattress, a television, a white good, metal item, tire or yard waste to the city drop-off on its open days.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes a per-item rate sheet for the Convenience Center and changes it by item type and size, so confirm the rate for the specific item before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Take the material to the Convenience Center on East Britannia during its published hours, and unload it yourself, because the site is self-service and allows no scavenging.

Payment is by cash, check, money order or credit card, vehicles are subject to load inspection, and construction, demolition and remodeling debris, liquid waste such as acids and pool chemicals, and material the regulations exclude cannot be dropped there.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Taunton's own routes are the curb, so most items either go out with the trash in official city bags or wait for the bulky item day, and the carve-outs are what send a household to the Convenience Center on East Britannia. That drop-off is open Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, takes mattresses and box springs, televisions and computer monitors, Freon and non-Freon white goods, bulk metal, tires, batteries, propane tanks, yard waste and recycling, and publishes a per-item rate sheet with payment by cash, check, money order or credit card. A mattress or box spring has a second route, because the city's contractor HandUp collects them at the curb on a booked date for a fee per unit and refuses water damaged, heavily soiled, moldy or infested units. Renovation debris is the one material with no city route at all: the regulations exclude construction, demolition and remodeling material, heavy machinery and bagged waste outside the official city bags, so that load needs a private container quoted by the company that supplies it. City drop-off for mattresses, electronics, white goods, metal, tires, yard waste and recycling

Taunton Convenience Center

330 East Britannia, Taunton, MA

Newspaper, mixed paper and flattened cardboard for recycling, commingled bottles and cans free to residents, leaves, grass and brush under one inch in diameter for compost, mattresses and box springs, white goods such as washers and dryers, Freon devices such as air conditioners and refrigerators, electronics including televisions and computer monitors, bulk metal items such as mowers, grills, microwaves and bicycles, automotive and lead acid batteries, propane tanks, tires, waste oil up to five gallons a day for residents, clothing and textiles free, and yard waste in paper bags or barrels.

Taunton residents only, self-service unloading, no scavenging and no smoking, and vehicles are subject to load inspection. Excluded material includes construction, demolition and remodeling debris, household garbage, liquid waste such as herbicides, pesticides, acids, bases and pool chemicals, and anything the regulations reject. A city mattress FAQ prints the drop-off number as 340 rather than 330, so confirm the entrance on East Britannia if it is not obvious.

Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The city publishes a per-item rate sheet effective July 12, 2023 that prices everything from cardboard and yard waste to mattresses, electronics, Freon devices, white goods, metal, batteries, propane tanks and tires. Payment is by cash, check, money order or credit card, and the rate for a specific item should be confirmed before a trip.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Taunton.

How much does TV removal cost in Taunton?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Taunton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do old televisions and computers go in Taunton?

To the Convenience Center on East Britannia, which charges a published per-item rate that rises with the size of the television, or onto a HandUp pickup that also takes flat screen televisions and computer monitors and towers for a fee. Electronics cannot go in the trash or in the bulky set out, and the city retired its e-waste sticker program in 2020.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulky items in Taunton?

The City of Taunton Department of Public Works runs the program with its collection contractor Republic Services, and residents reach the department at 508-821-1431 at 90 Ingell Street. Trash is collected weekly in official city pay-as-you-throw bags, recycling every other week on the same day, and one bulky item per week is allowed from a residential unit that has a bag set out.Official guidance

What bags do I need for curbside trash in Taunton?

Official City of Taunton orange pay-as-you-throw bags, which the city does not sell directly. Approved retailers in the city sell them, and waste left at the curb outside those bags is not collected apart from a permitted bulky item, a scheduled white goods or yard waste collection, and the dumpster service that is part of the municipal contract.Official guidance

What does the Convenience Center take, and what does it cost?

It takes mattresses and box springs, televisions and computer monitors, Freon and non-Freon white goods, metal items, tires, batteries, propane tanks, waste oil, clothing and textiles, yard waste and single stream recycling, and it publishes a per-item rate sheet rather than one gate price. Payment is by cash, check, money order or credit card, so confirm the rate for the exact item before loading a vehicle.Official guidance

When is the household hazardous waste day in Taunton?

The city publishes two household hazardous waste days, Saturday, August 22, 2026 and Saturday, August 21, 2027, and the Convenience Center routes everyday hazardous material differently: liquid waste such as herbicides, pesticides, acids, bases and pool chemicals is excluded from the site, and anything containing mercury is kept out of the trash.Official guidance
