Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

  1. Arrange the removal work

Have the fixture safely detached and any plumbing or electrical connections handled by an appropriate professional. We do not remove installed fixtures or perform demolition.

  2. Keep the booked items separate

Have the fixtures empty and ready at ground level. Keep them apart from rubble, loose renovation materials, tools and anything you want to keep.

  3. Show the outdoor handoff

Construction, renovation and remodeling debris

Special rules apply

The curbside bulk trash list refuses construction and renovation material. The drop-off day page names a narrower set of building items, and larger loads belong at a transfer station that charges for the material.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no fee for building material. The free drop-off day accepts only limited building items and refuses concrete and large demolition volumes, and WasteNot Recycling on Ravine Road and the county's transfer station referrals charge for the load. Confirm the material, the volume and the price first.
When & how
Bulk trash drop-off days run 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the published weekday dates and 8 a.m. to noon on the Saturday dates. WasteNot Recycling is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, closed Sunday.
Get it ready
Keep concrete, asphalt, rock, sand and any large demolition volume out of a bulk trash pile, because the city will not take a garage or house tear-down there. Separate metal, wood, shingles, wallboard and brick if the receiving station asks for it, and never mix in liquids, paint, batteries or treated material.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Set out the day before and pull back what is left

Place bulk items at the curb starting at 7 a.m. the day before your collection and have everything out by 6 a.m. on the collection day, because the city treats an early or late pile as a nuisance. Anything the crew does not take has to be off the curb within two days after the pickup in your area, and a missed bulk pickup should be reported to 311 or (269) 337-8000 within 48 hours.

Keep tires, liquids and hazardous material out of the pile

A bulk trash pile will not take tires, large auto parts, paint cans or other containers of liquid, rocks, sand, glass, concrete, yard waste, household trash, recyclables, EPS foam, electronics, or a cooling appliance that still holds Freon. Hazardous material belongs at the county center on Lamont Avenue, and the drop-off day takes tires only when they are cut into flat pieces.

City of Kalamazoo Department of Public Services

Free bulk trash drop-off days at Republic Services

A city resident whose address is outside curbside bulk collection, including downtown and buildings with five or more units, or anyone who missed the collection month.

Cost & conditions
No charge. City of Kalamazoo resident with proof of residency on a published drop-off day at Republic Services, 3432 Gembrit Circle. Loads are capped at 7.5 cubic yards and follow the same material guidelines as curbside.
Arrange it
Bring the load to Republic Services at 3432 Gembrit Circle on a published date. The next listings are Wednesday September 30, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday October 3, 2026 from 8 a.m. to noon, and proof of city residency is required at the gate.

Concrete, large pieces of metal, liquid or hazardous waste, batteries, regulated medical waste, motor oil and solvents, non-latex paints, tires on rims and large demolition volumes are refused. A cooling appliance still holding Freon is refused unless it was tagged by a licensed facility. Yard waste is taken at transfer station rates rather than as part of the free program, and any other day of the year carries a fee.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling here starts with the material rather than the vehicle. Furniture, mattresses and appliances that hold no refrigerant fit the quarterly curbside pile or the free drop-off days at Republic Services on Gembrit Circle, where proof of city residency is required at the gate. Televisions, computers and hazardous items belong at the county center on Lamont Avenue instead. A refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or air conditioner needs refrigerant handling, so the county list sends those to a reconditioned appliance dealer and Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers recovers refrigerant from units brought to its King Highway yard. Concrete, asphalt, shingles, wallboard and wood go to the WasteNot transfer station on Ravine Road for a fee, and the metal buyers on Glendenning Road pay for scrap appliances and wiring. Identify the material first, then confirm the destination and the price before you load. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Kalamazoo.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Kalamazoo?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Kalamazoo?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where can I take renovation debris in Kalamazoo?

The quarterly curbside bulk trash collection does not take construction or renovation material. The city's free drop-off day lists building materials, doors and fencing sections but refuses concrete and large demolition volumes, and WasteNot Recycling on Ravine Road accepts concrete, asphalt, shingles, wallboard, wood, brick and glass for a fee.Official guidance

Who handles curbside recycling and bulk trash in Kalamazoo?

The city's Department of Public Services runs curbside recycling, quarterly bulk trash, monthly yard waste and the fall leaf program, and the Solid Waste Millage pays for them instead of a per-pickup charge. Regular household trash is not a city service and has to be arranged privately. Bulk trash days are assigned by address, so check the city collection lookup or call 311.Official guidance
