Mattress

Choose twin, full, queen or king / California king. The mattress choice covers the mattress itself. A topper is a different item.

  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Portage residents have two established drop-off routes. Chemicals, paint, batteries and electronics go to the Kalamazoo County Household Hazardous Waste Center at 1301 Lamont Ave. in Kalamazoo by appointment, at no charge for County residents except Climax Township. Brush and leaves are accepted at the City compost facility at 10905 Oakland Drive on announced drop-off days. Tires, construction and demolition debris, large auto parts and refrigerant appliances are excluded from the cart and from Spring Cleanup, and the City pages do not name a facility for them, so confirm the current route with the Department of Public Works at (269) 329-4444 before hauling. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Portage.

How much does mattress removal cost in Portage?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Portage?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

Does Portage collect mattresses at the curb?

Spring Cleanup lists bed springs and mattresses among the items it collects. The weekly bulk pickup is limited to one large item, and the City names furniture and appliances, so tell WM at (877) 814-2328 that the item is a mattress when you schedule.Official guidance

Who collects trash and recycling in Portage?

The City contracts with WM for weekly trash and every-other-week recycling. Trash is billed quarterly to residents by WM, and recycling is paid for through property taxes under a voter-approved millage.Official guidance

Where do I take items Portage will not collect?

Tires, construction and demolition debris, large auto parts, paint and chemicals cannot go in the cart and are not part of Spring Cleanup. The Kalamazoo County Household Hazardous Waste Center takes chemicals and electronics by appointment, and for the remaining items confirm the current route with the Department of Public Works at (269) 329-4444.Official guidance
