A plan for your pile

Finishing the project should include clearing the debris.

Mixed renovation material is hard to describe as one item. A photo-led quote gives you a specific plan for the pile left behind.

Your quote

A quote based on what is actually there.

Send a photo of the whole pile and a close-up of the material. Include its approximate size, your ZIP code and a view of the access.

Mixed or heavy project debris.

Request a quote for the actual materials and quantity. A generic debris-pile price cannot establish the scope of your project.

Already in contractor bags?

The separate contractor-bag item can cover carryable bags of debris at 50 lb or less each, with no dirt or gravel. Describe uncertain contents to our team before choosing it.

Unknown or hazardous material.

Flag unknown contents, chemicals and suspected hazardous materials in your request. A photo request is not acceptance of every material, and this service does not promise remediation or demolition.

Ready for pickup

A few details. A clearer answer.

Send these details together so our team can review the material, the amount and the route to it.

Wait for the team to confirm acceptance, preparation, price and timing. Sending photos does not create a booking.

Your place. One easy pickup plan.

A house, a condo or an apartment. Choose an accessible outdoor spot that works for your property. You arrange the move outside; we take it from there.

Text us about your setup
  1. Show the material.

Show each material separately where possible. Describe wood, tile, drywall, concrete or other contents, and flag any material you cannot identify.

  2. Describe the amount.

Include approximate pile dimensions and known weights. Photograph both the whole pile and the route to it.

  3. Show the pickup access.

Include the location, ZIP code and a photo of the route from the street to the material. Mention stairs, gates, loading docks or limited access hours.

Construction & renovation debris

Special rules apply

The county brush site takes untreated construction wood by the cubic yard, but it refuses plywood, particle board, painted material, concrete, sod and dirt, so a renovation load has to be sorted.

City cost & eligibility
From $8 per cubic yard of untreated construction wood at the county brush drop-off site. Untreated wood only, delivered by the resident to the county brush site during its published hours; plywood, particle board and painted material are excluded, and clean wood pallets are charged separately per pallet.
When & how
The site runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the season, and it closes on major holidays and when four or more inches of snow are on the ground.
Get it ready
Separate untreated lumber from treated, painted and composite material, and keep concrete, sod and dirt out of the load entirely. For volume beyond a trailer, ask a hauler about a container because the city has no curbside construction route.

Sort the yard load before the county brush site

The county brush site keeps grass clippings and leaves in a different pile from branches and twigs, and the attending staff direct where each goes. No plastic bags are allowed, and concrete, sod and dirt are refused at the gate.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling around Traverse City means two county sites and one contractor facility. Yard material and untreated wood go to the county brush site on North Keystone Road for a published per-yard price, sorted recyclables go to the county drop-off sites including the one at 2600 Lafranier, and the contractor transfer station on Hughes Drive handles loads the branch accepts. Problem waste waits for a county household hazardous waste event, which requires an appointment. Drop-off loads handled by the city's contracted hauler.

This is a contractor facility rather than a municipal site, so material acceptance and any gate charge are set by GFL. Confirm the load before you drive over, and keep fuel, chemicals, batteries and paint out.

Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, closed Sunday.

No public gate rate is published for this facility, so confirm the charge for your load with the branch at 231.943.8088.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from your photo request to the pickup plan in Traverse City.

Can I book a mixed debris pile online at one price?

Request a custom quote instead. Send photos of the materials, approximate pile dimensions, your ZIP code and access details. The team confirms the work and price before you commit.

What if my debris is already in contractor bags?

Each carryable contractor bag at 50 lb or less, containing no dirt or gravel, has its own catalog option. Do not use a bag count for an unbagged pile or unknown material. Text a photo if you are unsure.

Does pickup include demolition or removing installed materials?

No demolition or disconnection work is automatically included. Describe the current state and access in your quote request so the team can confirm the work it can arrange.

How much does construction debris removal cost?

This service uses a custom quote. Send photos, the approximate amount, your ZIP code and access details. Our team confirms the scope and price before booking; there is no fixed-price catalog item for this pile.

Can you collect it today?

Tell our team your preferred day when you request the quote. Timing depends on the material, amount and access, and is confirmed with your quote. Sending photos does not reserve same-day pickup.

Where can I take renovation wood in Traverse City?

The county brush drop-off site takes untreated construction wood by the cubic yard and clean wood pallets by the piece. Plywood, particle board, painted wood, concrete, sod and dirt are not accepted, and the site closes on major holidays and in deep snow.Official guidance
