From $10 for the published per item electronics fee at the city cleanup days for flat panel televisions and monitors, printers, scanners and fax machines, media players, stereos, speakers, blenders, fans and vacuums, with box or tube televisions and monitors at the higher published rate and computers, laptops, keyboards, mice, mobile devices, light strings and extension cords accepted free. St. Louis Park residents at the city cleanup days, and Hennepin County households at the county drop-off facilities, where televisions, computer monitors and laptops carry their own per item charge and electronics are limited to five of the same type per year.

Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage cart and the recycling cart, and note that only small electric items without a mercury switch, such as toasters, coffee pots, fans and hairdryers, may go in the garbage. Box and tube televisions carry the highest cleanup fee, so separate them from the flat panels and computers before arriving.
The city holds a spring cleanup day and a fall cleanup day at the Municipal Service Center on Oxford Street, with the next event on Saturday, October 3 from 8 a.m. to noon. A bulky load costs more as the vehicle gets bigger, starting with a back seat or car trunk load and rising through a minivan, a pickup bed, a trailer or cargo van and a box truck, and separate per item fees apply to electronics, appliances, tires and mattresses.
Paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, bulbs, batteries, fuels, oil filters and sharps go to a Hennepin County drop-off facility in Brooklyn Park or Bloomington, or to a county collection event, with proof of residency and material in sealed containers of five gallons or less. The county publishes a charged list for tires, televisions, monitors, laptops, large appliances and mattresses, while medicines go to a pharmacy program, a county medicine drop box or the police department lobby at 3015 Raleigh Ave. S.

The contractor sets its own price for a scheduled curbside pickup, and the city publishes the route rather than a rate, so confirm the load and the charge with the collection contractor before the pickup day.
