Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Small electronics go free to the household hazardous waste facility, while large electronics such as televisions are refused and need confirming.

City cost & eligibility
The city takes small electronics such as cell phones, digital cameras, pagers, two way radios and ink and toner cartridges at its free household hazardous waste facility, but it states that large electronics are not accepted and publishes no curbside route, so confirm where a television, monitor or computer goes with the Contact Center at 573.874.2489.
When & how
Take small electronics to the household hazardous waste facility on a collection Saturday, and call 573.874.2489 before moving a large set because the facility refuses large electronics.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the roll cart and out of the blue recycling bags, which take only containers and bundled fibers, and clear personal data before handover.

Appliances, bulky items and hazardous products have their own requests

Bulky items and major appliances are not put out without a request: they are arranged through the CoMo Recycle and Trash app or at 573.874.2489, with bulky items at the curb by 7:30 a.m. and 8 feet of clearance plus 3 feet from the roll cart on a shared refuse day, and appliances picked up on the regular trash day when requested at least 24 hours ahead. Materials from the erection, destruction or remodeling of a building, felled trees, large automobile parts and hazardous materials are generally prohibited on both routes, and hazardous products go to the free household hazardous waste facility instead of any cart.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Columbia.

How much does TV removal cost in Columbia?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Columbia?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Columbia televisions and computers go?

Small electronics such as cell phones, digital cameras, pagers, two way radios and ink and toner cartridges can go free to the city's household hazardous waste facility on the first and third Saturdays from April through November. Large electronics are not accepted there and no curbside route is published, so call the Contact Center at 573.874.2489 and confirm where a television, monitor or computer goes before moving it.Official guidance
