Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Apex works differently from a city where the curb takes everything. Garbage and recycling are weekly cart collections run by GFL on the same day, bulk items are a booked town service with a fee added to the utility bill, and nothing in the bulk list happens automatically. A couch, mattress, appliance or exercise machine has to be requested through the town's service request form or by calling Ask Apex at (919) 249-3311, confirmed by email within 1 to 2 business days, and set at the curb by 6 am on the day you are given, because the crew will not enter private property and the service is not available to businesses or apartments. Mattresses and box springs are collected on Fridays only and count as two items when a mattress and its box spring go out together. The town refuses more than it takes: construction, demolition and remodeling material including toilets, vanities, mirrors and cabinets, household hazardous waste, electronics, household recycling and yard waste all stay out of the bulk pile, and the garbage cart is closed to yard waste, construction debris, automotive parts including tires, hazardous waste, hot ashes, metal and corrugated cardboard. What makes that workable is that Wake County put its South Wake facilities on consecutive addresses along Old Smithfield Road inside Apex. The multi-material facility at 6130 takes appliances, electronics, televisions, scrap metal, motor oil, cooking oil, cardboard, cell phones and pallets from residents and businesses Monday through Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. The household hazardous waste facility at 6150 takes chemicals, flammables, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, mercury items, paints and propane from residents only, with the same hours, and small amounts of latex paint can be dried and thrown away at home. The scrap tire site at 6160 takes up to 5 tires from a resident free of charge. The convenience center at 6120 runs daily from 7 am to 7 pm and adds up to two mattresses or box springs a day with residency verification, household construction debris from the homeowner with verification, clean clothing and shoes, and scrap metal, while refusing appliances, automotive fluids and batteries. Extra mattresses beyond the two a day allowance go to the shredder at the South Wake Landfill scale house at 6300 Old Smithfield Road for a per piece fee. None of the county pages publishes a fee, so one call to 919-856-7400 settles the cost before a trip. Yard waste is the one town service with its own calendar, and it moved to a biweekly two zone schedule on October 19, 2026, with Peak Leaf Season running to February 5, 2027 and a regular seasonal schedule after that. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Apex.

How much does TV removal cost in Apex?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Apex?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go in the trash in Apex?

No. Electronics including televisions are on the town's list of items the bulk collection will not take, and electronics are prohibited in the garbage cart. The route is Wake County: the South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road in Apex accepts any corded electronic device, including televisions, computers, printers and copiers, Monday through Saturday 8 am to 4 pm.Official guidance

Who collects garbage and recycling in Apex?

GFL, formerly Waste Industries, is contracted by the town to run the weekly household garbage collection, and the town's Public Works Department runs bulk item collection and yard waste with its own crews. Garbage and recycling carts go out weekly on the same collection day, carts should be 3 to 4 feet apart with the lids closed and nothing beside them, and Ask Apex at (919) 249-3311 handles schedules, missed collections and bulk item requests.Official guidance

What can I drop off inside Apex?

Four Wake County sites on Old Smithfield Road cover almost everything the town refuses. The multi-material facility at 6130 takes appliances, electronics and scrap metal, the household hazardous waste facility at 6150 takes chemicals, paints, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and propane up to 20 LB, the scrap tire site at 6160 takes up to 5 tires from a resident free of charge, and the convenience center at 6120 takes up to two mattresses or box springs a day, household construction debris from the homeowner with verification, clean clothing, cardboard and scrap metal. The county publishes no fee on any of them, so confirm terms on 919-856-7400.Official guidance

Electronics are refused in the Apex bulk collection and prohibited in the garbage cart, and the town's own recycling page sends them to Wake County instead.
