$25 per appliance collected by the Recycling and Waste Collection department. Charged to the city collection account when the department collects the appliance, with the fee set by City Council in the city fee schedule. White goods are banned from landfill disposal in North Carolina, so the county landfill cannot take one as ordinary trash.

Get it ready
Empty the appliance, secure or remove the doors, and keep it out of the green rollout container, which takes bagged household trash only. Report a refrigerant appliance as such when you call so the pickup is arranged correctly.

Get it ready
Do not put a cooling unit in the green rollout or in a load of household furniture, because white goods are banned from landfill disposal in North Carolina and the appliance has to be handled as its own item.
Rollout containers go out no earlier than the day before the assigned collection and no later than 6:00 a.m. on the collection day, and every container comes back to the residence by midnight that night. Collection runs between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., so a container still out after 4:30 p.m. is reported to Public Services Administration at 336-243-2489 as a missed pickup.
Bagged trash only, lid closed, three feet of clearance
Only bagged household trash belongs in the green rollout, the lid has to close, and the handles face the residence rather than the street. Containers need at least three feet from vehicles, poles, other containers and brush piles, and the city owns each numbered rollout so it stays with the address when a household moves.

Put the bulky load out with the regular collection day
For a household with furniture, an appliance, a tire or another large item that will not fit the rollout.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Furniture and ordinary household bulk carry no published item charge and ride the collection service the household already pays for through the monthly rollout charge, while white goods are billed per appliance and used tires per tire. A special pickup outside the ordinary collection is billed hourly plus the tipping fee.
Arrange it
Place the items at the curb or roadside no later than 6:00 a.m. on the normal garbage collection day, keep them clear of the rollout containers, and call Public Services at 336-243-2489 if anything about the load is unusual.
Construction debris, carpet, yard waste, chemicals and mixed piles are refused, and a load left out without an arrangement that the city has not agreed to take can draw an administration or return trip charge instead of a pickup.

Cost & conditions
From $8 per vehicle or trailer load, with inert debris at 8 dollars per ton, municipal solid waste at 36 dollars per ton, e-waste at 8 dollars per item, and mattresses free for the first two and then 10 dollars each. Davidson County waste only, with the minimum charge applying to a passenger vehicle or trailer load and larger loads paying the tonnage rate. Large loads need to be on site by 3:30 p.m. on a weekday and 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday.
Arrange it
Drive to the Residential Landfill on 600 Davidson County Landfill Road in Lexington, which opens at 7:30 a.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays, and sort the load before arrival so inert material is charged at the lower rate.
