Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are excluded from the weekly can, so a television or television stand travels through the prepaid bulk residential item collection as a priced item, while the landfill publishes a separate household hazardous waste and electronics fee schedule for the rest of the material.

City cost & eligibility
$15 per television or television stand on a scheduled bulk residential item collection, on top of the 25.00 pickup service fee, while other electronics go to the landfill under its own household hazardous waste and electronics fee schedule. City residential solid waste customers who prepay for the bulk collection or haul the material to the city landfill at 2111 N 52nd Street.
When & how
Use the published prepay deadline for the monthly bulk collection day, or take the material to the landfill, which is open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and closed on Sundays and designated holidays.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep the television off the weekly can because electronics are excluded there, and confirm the landfill's electronics fee before the trip because that schedule is published as a separate flyer.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Only what is inside the city-issued can is collected

All trash set out for collection must be inside the city-issued garbage can, and since January 1, 2025 anything placed beside the can is not collected at all. Garbage has to be bagged inside the container, animal waste has to be sealed in a plastic bag, grass trimmings and yard waste have to be bagged and placed into the container, and branches go in only when they are cut into pieces of 2 feet or less. The container has to be out by 6 AM on the collection day and placed three feet away from other containers, poles, signs and mailboxes with the handle facing the house.

The weekly route excludes every large item

The city publishes the list of items that will not be collected on the regular garbage route: appliances and electronics, box springs and mattresses, building material, carpet, concrete, construction and remodeling debris, decks and fences, dirt, furniture items, hazardous waste, oil, propane tanks, rocks, sand, sod and trees. Those items move to the prepaid bulk residential item collection or, for construction material and hazardous waste, to the city landfill.

The bulk collection fee is a service fee plus a fee per item

A prepaid bulk residential item collection starts with a pickup service fee that covers up to five items, and the disposal fee for each item is charged on top from the city's published list. The lower tier covers a bed, box spring, mattress, sofa, chair, recliner, dresser, television, treadmill, dishwasher, dryer, stove, washer, water heater, grill, toilet, small pool and propane tank, the higher tier covers every refrigerant item including a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner and dehumidifier, and a bag or can of leaves, grass or branches is priced separately. Each household is capped at two service fees and ten items a month, the service is prepaid with no refunds, and every item has to be light enough for two people to lift and carry.

The landfill takes the loads the collection routes refuse

The Bismarck landfill at 2111 N 52nd Street is open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and closed on Sundays and designated holidays, and it is the published route for construction and demolition material at its inert waste site and for household hazardous waste and electronics under a separate fee schedule. The 2026 rates are published per ton for general waste, at a lower per ton rate for inert waste and for trees and wood waste, with a minimum dumping charge and a fee for an unsecured load. All loads must be tarped or tied down, and wood chips cannot be removed from Burleigh County because of the emerald ash borer detection.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Bismarck keeps self haul on the city side: the landfill at 2111 N 52nd Street is open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and takes both the material the collection routes refuse and the loads too large for them. Construction and demolition material goes to the inert waste site at a lower per ton rate than general waste, trees and wood waste have their own per ton rate, a minimum dumping charge applies and an unsecured load carries its own fee, with payment by cash, check, credit or debit card. Household hazardous waste and electronics are also handled at the landfill under a separate published fee schedule, and propane tanks, oil and hazardous waste are all excluded from the weekly can. Weekly garbage itself takes only what is inside the city-issued container, with anything beside the can left behind since January 1, 2025, so a couch, mattress, appliance, television or treadmill has to be prepaid through the bulk residential item collection instead, and grass, leaves and short branches have to be bagged into the container. Wood chips cannot leave Burleigh County because of the emerald ash borer restriction. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Bismarck.

How much does TV removal cost in Bismarck?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Bismarck?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can a Bismarck household take a television?

Television collection is not part of the weekly route, because appliances and electronics are on the excluded list. A television or television stand is a priced item in the prepaid bulk residential item collection, added to the pickup service fee, and the city landfill at 2111 N 52nd Street is the other route, publishing a separate household hazardous waste and electronics fee schedule and taking drop-offs Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.Official guidance

How do I get rid of a large item in Bismarck?

Through the prepaid bulk residential item collection, because appliances and electronics, box springs and mattresses, furniture, carpet, building material, concrete, dirt, rocks, sand, sod and trees are all excluded from the weekly can. The pickup service fee covers up to five items and each item carries its own disposal fee, with a mattress, sofa, television or treadmill at the lower tier and every refrigerant item priced higher. Book before the published deadline and have the items at the curb by 6:00 AM.Official guidance

What will Bismarck not take in the garbage can?

Appliances and electronics, box springs and mattresses, building material, carpet, concrete, construction and remodeling debris, decks and fences, dirt, furniture items, hazardous waste, oil, propane tanks, rocks, sand, sod and trees are all excluded from the regular garbage route, and anything placed beside the can is left behind entirely. Construction material and hazardous waste go to the landfill instead, where construction and demolition debris is priced as inert waste and household hazardous waste and electronics are covered by a separate fee schedule.Official guidance
