Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors, computers and microwaves

Special rules apply

A television and a microwave do not leave the curb in Dover even with a tag, because the city says both must be brought to the Recycling Center and charges a published fee for each. Computer equipment goes to the same site, with monitors, printers, scanners, laptops, copiers and fax machines priced per device and CPUs, keyboards and mice taken free. The center also takes cell phones, automobile and rechargeable batteries and fluorescent tubes up to four feet long.

City cost & eligibility
From $5 per item at the Recycling Center, where the published schedule prices a television up to and including 36 inches, a monitor and a microwave at ten dollars each, a television over 36 inches and a rolling full size copier at twenty dollars each, printers, scanners, laptops, tabletop copiers and fax machines at five dollars each, and CPUs, keyboards and mice at no charge. Dover residents and contractors bringing the device to the Recycling Center with the no-charge vehicle permit, paying at the site by check, credit or debit card.
When & how
Bring the device to the Recycling Center at 265 Mast Road during its open hours and pay at the site, where the city takes checks, credit and debit cards and adds a processing fee to a card payment.
Get it ready
Measure a television before you load it, because the fee changes at 36 inches, and do not set a screen, monitor or microwave out with a tag. Alkaline batteries are ordinary trash, while lithium-ion, automobile and NiCad batteries come to the center, and a fluorescent tube has to be four feet or shorter to be taken.

Bags, tags and recycling follow the same set out window

Everything for curbside collection goes out by 7 a.m. on your trash day, and nothing goes to the curb earlier than 4 p.m. the day before. A 15 gallon Dover bag holds no more than 20 pounds and a 30 gallon bag no more than 35 pounds, both tied shut, and a tagged bulky item leaves on the same day as the trash. Recycling goes out with it, and the city will not collect bottles, cans or paper that are left curbside in plastic bags.

A tag is the curb route, and it stops at metal

The bulky item tag is published for non-metal items, so a couch, a mattress, a toilet or a rolled carpet can leave from the curb while a refrigerator, a washer, a television, a microwave and a large load of construction material cannot. Buy the tag before collection day at the City Clerk's Office, the Public Works facility on Mast Road, the Recycling Center or a store that sells Dover bags, and attach it to the item you are setting out.

The Recycling Center takes the restricted items, and it charges for some of them

Household recycling, metal, yard waste, batteries, waste oil, antifreeze, tires, propane tanks and compostable food scraps are taken at the Recycling Center on Mast Road, and the city says recycling in Dover is free. The same site prices the restricted material: construction and demolition debris by weight, refrigerated appliances and rolling copiers per item, televisions and microwaves per item, and computers per device. Bring the permit the City Clerk's Office issues at no charge, and pay by check, credit or debit card because the site does not take cash.

City of Dover Community Services and Waste Management

Drop the item at the Recycling Center on Mast Road

A household with metal, an appliance, a television or computer, construction debris, batteries, waste oil, antifreeze, a tire, a propane tank, a metal framed exercise machine or yard waste.

Cost & conditions
From $0 per drop, since the city takes household recycling, metal, yard waste, batteries, waste oil, antifreeze and compostable food scraps without a published fee while it weighs construction and demolition debris and charges per item for televisions, monitors, computers, microwaves, refrigerated appliances and propane tanks. Dover residents and contractors with the no-charge vehicle permit issued at the City Clerk's Office; bring the current vehicle registration and an ID, and pay by check, credit or debit card at the site.
Arrange it
Take the material to 265 Mast Road during the published hours and unload it yourself at the marked area for each material, allowing extra time if the load has to be weighed.

The site does not take bulky items, household trash or hazardous waste, padded furniture is refused, and the construction scale closes fifteen minutes before the gate. A dump trailer with a box longer than twelve feet cannot dump there, and the city points that load to the alternative sites it names.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Dover's city routes are the curb and the Recycling Center. Household trash leaves in a Dover bag, a non-metal oversized item leaves with a bulky item tag on the regular trash day, and everything the tag program leaves out goes to the center at 265 Mast Road: metal, appliances, refrigerated items, televisions, microwaves, computer equipment, construction and demolition debris, batteries, waste oil, antifreeze, tires, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs and yard waste. The center needs the permit the City Clerk's Office issues at no charge, takes payment by check or card only, and weighs construction loads at a resident rate and a contractor rate. Household chemicals are taken only at the shared hazardous waste day, whose published date is October 17, 2026, while leaves also go out in paper bags during the fall collection, and a construction load too big for the site's trailer and truck limits has to go to one of the alternative sites the city names, one on Route 236 in Eliot, Maine and one commercial landfill in Rochester. 265 Mast Road, Dover, NH

Household recycling, plastics, glass, cans and cardboard, light iron scrap metal including washers, dryers, ovens, grills and dishwashers, large metal items, construction and demolition debris, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, televisions, microwaves, monitors, printers, scanners, laptops, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, fluorescent tubes up to four feet, mercury devices, automobile and rechargeable batteries, waste oil, antifreeze, tires and inner tubes, propane tanks, yard waste, brush and compostable food scraps.

A vehicle permit is issued at the City Clerk's Office with a registration and an ID, and the site does not take bulky items, household trash, hazardous waste, padded furniture, light fixture ballasts or milk and juice cartons. Fluorescent tubes are limited to residents, the construction and demolition scale closes fifteen minutes before the gate, and a dump trailer with a box longer than twelve feet or a load larger than a one ton dump truck is turned away.

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The city brochure also lists a seasonal Sunday opening that the web pages do not show, so confirm before travelling on a Sunday.

From $0 per drop, since the city publishes no fee for household recycling, metal, yard waste, batteries, waste oil, antifreeze or compostable food scraps while it weighs construction and demolition debris at ten cents a pound for a resident load with a five dollar minimum and fifteen cents a pound for a contractor load with a twenty five dollar minimum, and charges per item for televisions, monitors, microwaves, computers, refrigerated appliances and propane tanks. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Dover.

How much does TV removal cost in Dover?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Dover?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go out with a bulky item tag?

No. The city says a television and a microwave must be brought to the Recycling Center, where each carries a published fee, and the fee for a television is higher once it is over 36 inches. Computer equipment goes to the same site with its own per-device prices, so check the schedule before you load a vehicle.Official guidance

Why can a television or a refrigerator not go out with a tag?

Because the tag program is written for non-metal items. Dover says a television and a microwave must be brought to the Recycling Center, where each has a published fee, and a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, humidifier or dehumidifier contains refrigerant and also has to come to the center for a fee. Washers, dryers, ovens and dishwashers go to the same site as metal.Official guidance

Do I need a permit for the Recycling Center, and how do I pay there?

The Recycling Center permit is issued annually at the City Clerk's Office at no charge, and you bring your current vehicle registration and an ID to get one. At the site, payment is by check, credit or debit card and a card payment carries a processing fee, because the center does not take cash.Official guidance
