Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Remodeling and construction debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction and demolition waste is the one stream Hoboken refuses outright: sheet rock, concrete and treated lumber are not collected at the curb and have to be hauled privately.

City cost & eligibility
The city states that construction and demolition waste is not collected by the City of Hoboken and must be hauled privately, so there is no municipal charge to publish. A licensed contractor or a private hauler carries the load and sets its own price.
When & how
Arrange a private haul or a contractor's container, because construction material has no place on any of the city collection nights and putting it out would breach the collection ordinances.
Get it ready
Keep sheet rock, concrete, treated lumber and the rest of the demolition material off the curb and out of the bins, and agree in writing with the contractor about who removes the debris. The police and the city licensing rules apply to a container placed on a street.

Arrange a private haul for construction debris

A Hoboken household or contractor with sheet rock, concrete, treated lumber or other renovation debris.

Cost & conditions
The city offers no municipal construction collection, so the price comes entirely from the private hauler or the contractor and has to be quoted.
Arrange it
Contract a private hauler or agree with the contractor that the debris leaves the site, and keep the load off the curb and out of the household bins in the meantime.

Construction and demolition waste is the one stream the city refuses outright, so a household cannot solve a renovation load by setting it out on any collection night.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Hoboken is a curbside city, so self haul is rarely the answer. Almost everything a household wants gone goes out with one of the city's own collection nights: mattresses and non metal furniture with the garbage on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and metal furniture, appliances, yard waste, electronic waste, paper and cardboard on Thursday night for a Friday morning pickup. Everything goes to the curb after 7:30 p.m., or after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area, in a lidded container, with garbage under 50 pounds and the doors removed from any refrigerator, washer, dryer or oven. Recycling goes out in two separate streams, commingled plastic, glass, cartons and metal on Monday night with only plastics numbered 1, 2 and 5, and paper and cardboard on Thursday night. The two exceptions are construction debris, which the city does not collect at all and which has to be hauled privately, and household hazardous waste such as non latex paint, varnish, turpentine and pesticides, which waits for one of the Hudson County Improvement Authority drop-off days booked on 201-324-6222 extension 3219. A latex paint can that is empty or dried out can still go with the garbage, a can more than half full can be brought to the Hoboken Recycling Center at 1501 Madison Street, and the same counter hands out free blue bins and free paper yard waste bags to residents with proof of address. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Hoboken.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Hoboken?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Hoboken?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Will Hoboken collect construction debris?

No. The city states that construction and demolition waste such as sheet rock, concrete and treated lumber is not collected by the City of Hoboken and must be hauled privately, so a renovation load never goes to the curb with the household collection.Official guidance

Who do I ask about a Hoboken waste question?

The recycling coordinator, Dave Calamoneri, at 1501 Madison Street, on (201) 420-2000 extension 1320 or recycling@hobokennj.gov, with counter hours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Household hazardous waste questions go to the Hudson County Improvement Authority environmental hotline on 201-324-6222 extension 3219.Official guidance
