Arrange it
Reserve the collection online through the city's bulk item form, giving the address, an item description and the date. Brush has its own route and is collected by appointment only, tied in bundles no longer than four feet and under 50 pounds or placed in open rigid containers without lids.
One scheduled collection takes a maximum combination of six trash cans, bags or bulk items per household unit, and regular cans and bags count toward the limit. Mattresses and box springs must be completely wrapped in plastic, no car parts are accepted on the scrap metal route, and some addresses are served by a private company rather than the city.
New Brunswick runs its own twice-a-week trash, alternate-week recycling and appointment-based bulky collection, and the appointment is what unlocks a curbside pickup for furniture, mattresses, appliances, scrap metal and brush. Televisions and other electronics are dropped off at the Department of Public Works on the second Saturday of the month, where county residents can also bring paint.
