Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and computer monitors

Special rules apply

The city refuses electronics at the curb, and the county's own pages disagree on whether a television is recycled at the transfer station or handled as trash, so the set has to be confirmed first.

City cost & eligibility
The agency publishes a per unit rate for televisions and computer monitors under recycling and also states on its device page that the transfer station recycles computer monitors only and that televisions are trash, so the route and the amount both have to be confirmed with the agency at (505) 424-1850 or at the scale house before a set is dropped off.
When & how
Check the route before loading the vehicle. The transfer station is open Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at 2600 Buckman Road, and the city's own large item collection refuses electronics, so a television is never part of a curbside pickup.
Get it ready
Keep the set whole and dry, erase anything stored on it, and never put it in a recycling cart or a drop-off recycling container, because electronic waste is banned from the county landfill and the drop-off centers take only glass, cardboard, paper, plastic and cartons.

A do-it-yourself load starts at the county scale

The Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station at 2600 Buckman Road takes Santa Fe County waste Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with household hazardous waste only on Fridays and Saturdays. Trash is charged by vehicle weight class with a minimum load charge, appliances, televisions, monitors, tires, green waste and scrap metal have their own per unit or per ton rates, drop-off recycling is free, and a load that is not covered or secured draws an after-hours charge. Size limits apply to wood, concrete and tree material, and no self dumping trailer is allowed without an exception.

Take the load over the county scale at Buckman Road

A household with a cleanout load, renovation material, appliances, electronics, tires, green waste or hazardous material that the curbside collection will not take.

Cost & conditions
From $8.5 for minimum load charge for a covered self-haul trash load at the transfer station, rising by vehicle weight class with heavier vehicles and vehicles with trailers charged per ton, plus a per unit charge for appliances, a higher per unit charge for an appliance with refrigerant, a per unit charge for televisions and monitors, a per tire or per ton charge for tires, and a per ton charge for green waste, scrap metal and household hazardous waste. Santa Fe County waste only, with payment by cash, check, debit or credit card, credit limited to Visa, Mastercard and Discover, and household hazardous waste limited to Santa Fe city and county residents on Fridays and Saturdays.
Arrange it
Drive to 2600 Buckman Road, enter at the scale, and unload in the marked areas, during open hours Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Household hazardous waste is taken only on Fridays and Saturdays during the same hours, and drop-off recycling is free.

No self dumping trailers without an exception, no load over 12,500 pounds gross vehicle weight, size limits of four feet for wood and lumber, two feet by two feet for concrete, asphalt, bricks and cinder blocks, eighteen inches in diameter for tree trunks and three feet for stumps, an extra charge for an uncovered or unsecured load, and household hazardous waste must never be left at the center when it is closed.

With a new purchase

Use a retailer or a reuse outlet for a working item

A household with a television, an appliance, scrap metal, building material or usable furniture that a store or donation center may take.

Cost & conditions
The listed outlets set their own terms: the county page says most companies charge a small fee to recycle a television or monitor, the fee table prices appliances and refrigerant appliances per unit, and reuse outlets such as the Habitat ReStore decide case by case, so confirm with the outlet before loading the vehicle.
Arrange it
Best Buy at 3533 Zafarano Dr #a6 takes televisions 32 inches or smaller; Mr. G's Recycling at 7625 Baca Ln takes computer monitors and appliances; Capital Scrap Metals at 1162 Cooks Lane takes appliances and scrap metal; the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 2520 Camino Entrada takes building materials, tools and home improvement items; and the county donation lists cover furniture, clothing and sporting equipment.

Best Buy's television limit is 32 inches, Mr. G's takes computer monitors only rather than televisions, the county transfer station is the only route with a published per unit rate for televisions and monitors, and reuse outlets can refuse worn or broken items.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Santa Fe splits into two county facilities. The Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station at 2600 Buckman Road is open Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and takes trash by vehicle weight class with a minimum load charge, drop-off recycling of glass, cardboard, mixed paper, plastic and cartons at no charge, appliances per unit with a higher charge for an appliance holding refrigerant, televisions and computer monitors per unit, tires per tire with the first weekend of every month free, green waste and scrap metal by the ton, and household hazardous waste from city and county residents on Fridays and Saturdays only. Loads must come from Santa Fe County, no load may exceed 12,500 pounds gross vehicle weight, no self dumping trailer is allowed without an exception, and wood, concrete and tree material have to be cut to the posted sizes. The Caja del Rio Landfill off Wildlife Way takes heavier trash and construction loads for cash customers Monday to Friday and Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and charges by the ton, and it accepts no tires at all. Electronics, appliances and hazardous material go to their own counters at the transfer station rather than the landfill face, and the city's own drop-off centers at 3184 Jemez Road and 2950 Agua Fria St take residential recyclables only. Televisions and computer monitors are listed on the agency rate table as a per unit recycling charge.

Santa Fe County waste only, with the counter open Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; the agency's own device page says this facility recycles computer monitors only and treats televisions as trash, so confirm the set at the scale house or by calling (505) 424-1850 before unloading.

Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with household hazardous waste on Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. ; closed New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

The rate table prices televisions and computer monitors per unit, but the agency's device page says monitors are recycled here and televisions are handled as trash, so the route and the amount both have to be confirmed at the scale house or by phone.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Santa Fe.

How much does TV removal cost in Santa Fe?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Santa Fe?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Will Santa Fe pick up a television?

No, the city large item list refuses electronics at the curb. Electronic waste goes to the Buckman Road transfer station, which takes it seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The agency prices televisions and computer monitors at a per unit rate on its fee table, but its own device page says the facility recycles computer monitors only and treats televisions as trash, so confirm the route at (505) 424-1850. Best Buy at 3533 Zafarano Dr takes televisions 32 inches or smaller for a fee.Official guidance
