Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Televisions of the tube, CRT and flat screen types are collected at the City of Canton Recycle Center, and the district states they are sent to the landfill rather than recycled, describing the service as one the city provides. The programme also covers computer and electronic waste.

City cost & eligibility
The city and district publish what the centre takes but no fee for televisions or other electronics, so confirm the current terms on 330-874-2258 option 1, and ask about any charge for a flat screen that could be recycled elsewhere.
When & how
Book an appointment for the Canton Recycle Center at 742 Schroyer Avenue SW, open Tuesdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a lunch closure between noon and 1 p.m., and bring identification.
Get it ready
Keep screens whole and bring the set inside a tote or box if one is easier to carry, since the centre returns totes and boxes on request. Alkaline, manganese and carbon zinc batteries are not accepted and belong in the trash, and other rechargeable batteries are routed to shops that take them back.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Canton means the City of Canton Recycle Center at 742 Schroyer Avenue SW, and it runs on appointments. The centre is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a lunch closure, visitors bring identification, and the accepted list covers appliances and scrap metal, ferrous and non ferrous metals, televisions of every type, residentially generated tires, household hazardous waste, used motor oil and antifreeze, recyclables, and small propane or butane canisters. Freon stays in an appliance and the unit just has to be empty, because the centre can refuse a loaded one. Tires are free but limited to ten per person per year, with no more than ten transported at once. The centre refuses furniture, carpet, mattresses, building materials, clothing, plastic bags, trash and yard waste, so those items either go out with the weekly collection or, for construction loads, through a rented container arranged on 330-489-3020. City drop-off centre

City of Canton Recycle Center

742 Schroyer Avenue SW, Canton, OH 44707

Appliances and scrap metal, ferrous and non ferrous metals, televisions of the tube, CRT and flat screen types, residentially generated tires on or off the rim, household hazardous waste, used motor oil and antifreeze, paper, metal and aluminium cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and jugs, and small propane or butane canisters of about two pounds or less.

Appointments are required and identification is brought to the visit. Household hazardous waste has to come from a household rather than a business, vapours travel in closed containers, leaking items go in a plastic tote that can be returned, and bleach and ammonia must never be mixed. Appliances have to be empty because the centre may refuse a unit holding food or liquid, though freon does not have to be removed. Tire acceptance is limited to ten residentially generated tires per person per year with no more than ten transported at once, and business, commercial, non profit, government and farm tires are refused. Furniture, carpet, mattresses, building materials, clothing, plastic bags, trash, yard waste, smoke detectors, toys and large cylinders are not accepted.

Tuesdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed between noon and 1 p.m. for lunch.

The city and district publish the centre's materials and appointment rules but no fee for appliances, televisions or hazardous material, and state only that residential tires are free, so confirm the terms for your load on 330-874-2258 option 1 before booking.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Canton.

How much does TV removal cost in Canton?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Canton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do old televisions go in Canton?

To the City of Canton Recycle Center, 742 Schroyer Avenue SW, by appointment on Tuesdays or Fridays. Tube, CRT and flat screen televisions are all collected there, and the district states they are sent to the landfill rather than recycled, as a service the city provides.Official guidance

Can I bring a computer to the Canton collection?

The district's programme covers computer and electronic waste alongside the televisions it names, but the published item list names televisions explicitly, so call 330-874-2258 option 1 to confirm your computer before making the trip.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Canton?

The City of Canton Sanitation Department collects trash weekly with its own crews, Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., serving roughly 24,000 structures. Collection days vary by area, so the department confirms a specific address on 330-649-8100, and crews reserve the right to suspend collection in dangerous weather.Official guidance

How do Canton holidays affect collection?

Trash is not picked up on the listed holidays, collection resumes the day after and runs a day behind the normal schedule for the rest of that week, and a Friday route is collected on Saturday. Trash is still collected on holidays that are not on the list.Official guidance

How does Canton curbside recycling work?

Curbside recycling is free to city residents who receive city sanitation service and runs with the trash collection on garbage day. An 18 gallon blue bin is supplied, containers are rinsed with lids removed, paper is separated in a bag or bundle, and the recycling container is placed at least six feet from the trash containers.Official guidance
